Okay, I've been away on holiday for a while, and my computer (graphics card?) seems to have decided to stop recognising my monitor. I desperately need to check my gmail account to find out whether I'm employed this week but this stupid bloody library computer (which only has IE on it - aaaaaaaaaaargh!) doesn't seem to recognise gmail.google.com. I get directed to https://gmail.google.com/ if I search for gmail in the crappy msn search thingy (no, it doesn't recognise google.com either) which just shows up as a blank page.

Anyway, I'm assuming that this isn't a problem which can be resolved due to administrative restrictions, so I'd like someone I know reasonably well and trust to pm me so I can have them log in and check my email for me. (I'd have come into #massassi but the jIRC window won't work either)

Open 'My Computer' on the desktop, make sure that 'Address Bar' has a check next to it under View->Toolbars, and type in Google there. If that doesn't work, proceed to tell the library staff that their inability to modernize their computer systems, over time, will actually make the public dumber.

okay, so whatever hissy fit google was having on monday, it seems to be over it now and I can access my email (three weeks of junk, yay!), but the computer I've been assigned is set to 600x800 and it's making my brain hurt!!

so yeah, no pirates, but my computer is definitely not cooperating. I'm slightly concerned from what happydud has said that my video card may be completely dead, which would suck muchly, since I have no monies for a new one (unless one of our richer residents has recently bought a new one and has a spare to offload? :D)
