Anyone here ever built there own lightsaber?

So my friends and I are going as Jedi (or a badass Sith in the case of me) for Halloween and we are needing to construct lightsabers. Naturally I turned to the net and found that one sign that tells how to build handles.

While looking I came across some on eBay and noticed people building light up lightsabers. So, has anyone ever built one of these? If so, how did it work out?

And finally, anyone know where I can find the plans on building the light up ones (think Master Replicas minus the sound) online other than eBay?

Thanks.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Just build the handle, and stick a lighter on the end and light up! ;)

The best base for a handle is 1" diameter tubing from aluminum or steel. Any local hardware store like ACE or home improvement store like Home Depot or Lowes should have it.

I built mine with junk I found in my basement. I have more plumbing, electrical and other junk than you'd care to hear about. About two generations worth.

I actually get angry when people write 'there' instead of 'their'.

I'm still scavenging for parts. I have a nice one inch steel pipe from a hoover, but I'l still lacking things like an end cap and O-rings for decoration.

I built one, doesn't light up though.

Basically, go to Home Depot one afternoon and just have at it. Then hot glue, tape, screw, and solder those bad boys on!

Here are mine. They don't light up or anything, but still look pretty nice.
I got the build plans from here.

i built one from parts and stuff that i bought at home depot, took me about a week working an hour or so everyday, you can make one for very cheap if you already have a pipe,

rlsa sabers also have a very afforable array of sabers, i bought one from him and so far its been great, you can get an accrylic tube that acts as the blade for like 25 bucks, its very affordable, the guys name is rob.

Those lights are so much fun to break! White stuff and glass shards flying everywhere...those were the days.

Blades are best made out of 1" (or slightly smaller) hollow aluminum tubing. Fill them with expandable foam for strength and rigidity. Paint them with whatever fluorescant color you like.

Haha, I love the scene in the 40-year-old virgin where they're smashing the fluorescent bulbs for no reason...

Used a 12" ceiling fan extension for my last hilt base, plus random parts for the rest of it. 3' section of 3/4" irrigation PVC for the blade, and that's sturdy enough to beat people with.
