MP5s rock, the SD5 is probably my favourite version.

Metal body, or plastic?

Q. How many testers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. We just noticed the room was dark; we don't actually fix the problems.

what is an mp5?
2005-08-25, 5:02 PM #7
That a real gun or some AirSoft imitation? Either way, cool. If it's real, well, atleast the 9mm bullets can be used for pistols too :D

and if that is an MP5 for real, I thought it was illegal for Americans to own Full-Auto weapons?
I had a blog. It sucked.

Zloc.... >.<
It's an airsoft replica, but they make semi-auto versions of most submachine guns and rifles which are legal for civilians to own.

Not all fully auto guns are illegal to own.

True, you can own fully automatic rifles if you get a license.. which requires quite a bit of money and paperwork.

You have an MR2? What year?

Metal body. Very solid. :)

Airsoft. Some fullauto weapons are legal, but require federal paperwork. Once I'm certified law enforcement, I can buy a full-auto FN P90 for about $2400. :D

It's not really a 'license', per se - it requires a $200 tax stamp/fee for transfer of ownership, and a special form.

Keep an eye on your magwell, I seem to remember there being a lot of problems with them splitting on the front edge resulting in loose magazines. You can probably still get clips etc that solve the problem if it occurs.

Will do..thanks. Do you know if that was an issue on the older versions, newest version or both?

Not sure if it was limited to any specific model/make. The receiver splits open down the front due to there being very little there to keep it together. If its a newer model, I expect it will have been addressed.

So to own a non-automatic or semi-automatic firearm in the USA you don't even need a license as long as the weapon is registered? I've heard this before, but I didn't believe it.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

For those untrained, those acronyms mean...?
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

TM = Tokyo Marui
CA = Classic Army
AE = Airsoft Elite
ICS = I have no idea, but ICS/AE are generally the same thing, IIRC.

Semi-auto doesn't even require registration. I can walk into a gun show - 300-400 bucks later, I can walk out with a semi-auto AK47.

Full auto requires a federal background check, a $200 tax stamp to transfer ownership, a bit of paperwork, and a long wait (usually months). Most states also have shall-issue concealed carry permits - basically unless they can provide a reason (criminal background) not to give a permit, they must issue one. Alaska and Vermont require no permits for concealed carry, and I believe Arizona allows open carry without a permit, but concealed requires one. You don't hear about too much crime in those states, do you ;)

As you speak about modeling a gun for a video game, the irony gets deeper and deeper....

:p

Seriously, though..I'll take as many pics as you want - after I get broadband. I can also give you pics of:

Beretta M9
FN P90
Steyr AUG
H&K G36C
Benelli M3 Super 90

I was JUST going to ask if you'd take a bunch of reference pictures for me to model, as the MP5 is amazingly vague on almost every image you can find online. Mostly because of it's finish, it's difficult to see detail on the sized pictures people post online.

I'd LOVE you if you'd do the same with a P90, as, for the life of me, I can't seem to understand all of the aspects of it [Like the mounting brackets and the laser mount]

When do you need them? I should be moving in about a week - shoot me an email in a week or so, or I'll probably forget about it..

Or, if we ever buy more blank CDs, I can take a /lot/ and mail you a CD.
