KotOR II -- The Good, The Bad, and the "What the??"

Yeah, I just beat it, and this is the easiest way to give my review. I'd like to have your thoughts on it.

The Good:
  • Actual Jedi-ish robes (KotOR's were cool, but I like the traditional style)
  • More Dialog 'functions' (repair, intelligence, awareness, etc)
  • The new Mandalore (how do you unmask him? I heard you could)
  • Three Sith to fight -- lots of cool battles
  • Plot twists
  • More alien species
  • Hidden worlds Like the factory on Telos and the Droid Planet
  • Character dependent party members Exile Man=Handmaiden / Exile Woman=Disciple, Lightside=Mira / Darkside=Hanharr

The Bad:
  • You never get 'your' lightsaber back
  • G0-T0 --- end of story (never saw a need to use him)
  • Less 'character development' conversations, like in KotOR, where you got to know your party as their levels increased
  • How quickly the Ebon Hawk gets fully repaired. . . (outside at least, the inside was a WIP)
  • No 'extra party members' (like how you have Trask at the beginning of KotOR, then Bastila replaces him) I mean with the fact that they put in character dependent party members, they could've done it.
  • Did I mention the bugs?

The "What the..?:
The Ending--
What the heck, you defeat Kriea, you talk to her, she dies, you fly off, and that's IT??? Besides, how did the Ebon Hawk mysteriously end up in perfect shape to pick you up after the crash??

Now, that being said, let me say one thing before continuing. I LOVE, LOVE this game! I guess that's why I nitpicked it so much.

That being said, go buy it. If not now, get it when it goes down to 20$. There's lots of mods out for it on pcgamemods.com -- plus it's fun to play through light and dark, man and woman.

I can't wait until KOTOR 3 comes out.

I can. Easily. I thought 2 was a steaming pile of crap, and I only played about 3-4 hours of it.

I was never much for RPGS, so I borrowed a friend's copy to try it out before dropping $50 on it. I played for a few hours and then ended up uninstalling it.

meh, you never got to the good part of the game.

You should keep an eye on the TSL Restoration Project. It's making a lot of progress on putting cut material back in the game.

Oh, and I loved KotOR II :D

It was quite fun, but not excellent like KotOR was.

Yes, but at pcgamemods you can download the modules, which were ripped from the Xbox version and warp to it.

I'm beginning to think I'm the only one that understood the ending......

the ending... as it is in the final game... is in what Kreia says to you at the end... in other words... GO THROUGH EVERY OPTION IN THE CONVERSATION

sure it won't avoid those weird plotholes and such (g0-t0 shows up to stop the remote but the thing the remote was doing seemed to work out in the cutscene... the whole magically repaired ship... how does everyone get off the planet exactly when they are all over the place)... but it's the most you will get for an ending
eat right, exercise, die anyway

Yeah, KotOR 2 was very unfinished. I still can't wait for KotOR 3, though.

I really loved KotOR 2, I just wish they would have pushed it back 3 or 4 months to give a completely finished product.

They would have, but LEC didn't let them.

I couldn't even bring myself to play KotOR 2 after you crash landed on the first planet. Totally disappointing, especially after the first.

Yeah, I know about that. But I didn't think it was available yet.

Shame on LucasArts/Obsidian for having the consumers finish the game for them.

HAHAHAHAH I love the new feature - "various ways to be responsible for the deaths of all your party members!"

I don't think you could really blame Obsidian since LEC was pushing for a release not to long after Halo 2, and I doubt OE could really do anything about it.
