So I was just at a party; and we decided that the fire was too small... so someone got the bright idea to fill a glass bottle (that previously contained alcohol; does it surprise you that alcohol was involved?) with diesel, put the lid on, and throw it in the fire.... Thankfully I was at the ready with my digital camera, and got a great shot of the resulting explosion.

Let me tell you; we felt the heat off that one. So, post all your crazy fire stories! (and corresponding pics, if they exist)

EDIT: Trying a different image host; Imageshack seems to be taking a crap right now. Also, I'd like to point out that I was not consuming any alcohol; I was simply documenting the actions of those who were.

I can't see the pictures :( But good job. From what you described, that sounded cool. You will definitely be the explosives expert when we try to take over Massa...Korea. When we try and take over Korea (Now who's going to move the Massassi server to Korea? Any volunteers?)
I had a blog. It sucked.

The only fire related storey I have is when I was younger I was cooking some chips in a gas oven. I had lit it, put the chips in, closed the door and walked away. 5mins later I smell gas so I open the oven door and see that the flames gone out. For this next bit please bear in mind I was young and tired.

So the flames out, might have even been out for the full 5 mins, so I'm knealt in front of the oven with my head close to it and my hand hovering over the ignite button.

FIREBALL!

Lucky for me and the house it was one of those ovens with the drop down doors. When the gas ignited I let myself fall backwords and somehow kicked the door closed with my feet. Needless to say I immidatley turned the gas off and opened all the doors and windows and have been careful near gas ever since.

nice one, did he smash it like you would a molotov or just drop a sealed bottle in like a pressure explosive? I went through a bit of a pyro stage at the age of 14/15.
Deodorant cans and gas canisters are also quite amusing just get yourself some distance and prepare for NOISE! Then there's a whole bunch of fun to be had taking apart fireworks, rigging things to Estes model rocket engines etc, but that's pretty ****ing stupid and dangerous. I guess I was lucky i didn't lose something.

Hmmm. A few months ago Wesley and I were playing around with fire and cologne.

Wesley: Did you know that since this is alcohol based it won't hurt me if I pour some on my hand and light it?

Me: It's not quite as hot as other fires I think but it'll still hurt.

Wesley: No it won't watch! Ow! Crap! Crap!

Me: lol

And of course we go light depth charges (water proof individual black cats) in this big concrete tunnel. That's loud. Really, really, stinkin loud.

I did something similar, except I had a manual-light stove and had turned it on because I was going to cook something, then walked off and forgot about it for some reason. It usually took a few moments to get enough gas out to ignite. So anyway, the gas was on for quite a number of hours. Fortunately, nothing ignited the gas. Probably because the air was so saturated.

Ahh, a chance to test my new image host.

This pic was taken a few nights ago about half a kilometre into a drain. Basically a really big firecracker. The acoustics of the drain ensured it was the loudest boom i've ever heard and it echoed for about 12 seconds after that. It sounded awesome! Anyway, I set my camera up on a little gooseneck tripod about 5 metres away and set it to take a night shot (which leaves the shutter open for about 5 seconds). My friend lit the fuze and luckily it blew while the shutter was still open. I felt the thud of the boom on my chest and I was worried it may have blown my camera over!. Anyway, here's the shot...

The pictures worked for me this time. I guess refreshing probably would've worked. But so did waiting a day before clicking on the thread again (not that I purposely waited to try and get the pictures working or anything).
Impressive work there. The fire looks cool.
THen again, when doesn't fire look cool?

*takes a drag off cigarette*
It was 9 or so, one warm summer night. I was at a summer camp... we were hungry and impatient. *takes drag*
Our counselor had gone to the cabin to get some matches. My friend, let's call him... Donkeynuts, he had a special army knife that included, amongst the screwdrivers and toothpicks and magnifying glasses, a slab of flint and a steel rod. I think you know where this is going. *long drag*
We had bug spray, because you need bug spray at camp. We decided to see what the 19th centur pyro teenagers would have done had they been left with kindling, wood, and a pressurized flamable liquid. Like Tom Hanks in that Fed Ex movie, we had made fire. *takes drag off the wrong end of the cigarette* DAMN! OUCH! JEEEEEZUS!

-good times.

I've been in a firefight before!

Well.. I was in a fire once.

Okay, so I was fired from a fry-cook opportunity.

As some of you know, I'm a firefighter. I've been involved in a couple of fires and several back burns.

We got sent up 1 hour's drive north about 4pm one afternoon. By the time we put the back burn in it was night, and I looked up to see thousands of sparks flying over my head like a huge herd of fireflies... very very cool.

That same night I saw little tornados formed by sparks, about 1 metre tall, spinning round. They looked awesome.

Another back burn we did the fire got into a dense clump of bushes and went from 8 foot flame to about 25-30 foot flame in a matter of seconds, and we were pretty close. Nothing happened because it was isolated, but it was an eye opener.

One time we overloaded on my friends bed/fouton, however you spell it.

It broke so we hacked it apart, and his parents were phoning, and asking if they could fix it as we stood around shards as we hacked away at it with axes.

Welp we took it out in the winter and burned the sucker good. The one thing that his parents told him to do was to not use gasoline if he was going to burn it, first thing he did was pour a whole glass onto the fire, it was a huge fireball, almost got him.

Good times.

A lot of hot weather plants have quite oily leaves to stop water loss through transpiration, fir trees are similarly oily. When we burn off garden rubbish at home we keep it at a high temperature fire to burn through the occasional tree stump, you throw some fir tree clippings on and the flames shoot up at least 20 feet from similarly humble beginnings!

I'll never forget when my brother was playing with gunpowder. The fireball went up in the air about 40 feet, and we had neighbors ask if a bomb detonated. My brother was rushed to the hospital in a helicopter 30 minutes later.

Me and some friends drove down a road that was in the middle of a minor forest-fire once. Well, twice, actually, but the second time it was just smoldering and glowing, not actually burning. We also went to a different fire on the same night that was incredibly huge, we were watching it from across a small lake and it englufed a couple hilltops while we were there.

By far the best, though, was when were were driving through one...there was smoke everywhere, hard to see, fire on either side and sometimes above. We're stupid as hell.
