Wow...some of those guys really got attached to the game, didn't they? For example:

"You gotta be ****ing kidding me. Thanks a lot. I've poured my heart and soul into trying to help this game, help its community, and you back out that ****ing fast? 7 ****ing months? Thanks a bunch."

Plus the dozen or so people who have vowed never to buy any product from Turbine ever again. I've never played an MMO before, so I don't know if that's normal or not. Maybe some of the people here who play these games can tell me if they'd get equally upset if their game was to close?

Closing or not, there are overly emotional MMO players who regularly and violently exhort on message boards regardless of what's happening in game. You're lucky if it's even coherent.

For example, for years AC1's missile weapon system left arrows/quarrels stuck in the environment when your shot missed entirely. They eventually removed this to cut down on lag (hardly anyone picked up their missed arrows) and one player became extremely angry, ranting for over half a page, mostly in swear words, about how horrible Turbine was. In this game of magic, instant teleportation, life after death and bizarre creatures, his argument against this change was that it wasn't... "historically accurate."

Other MMOs have closed over the years, but this may be the largest and most well known to do so. Though this closure isn't surprising, it just seems strange to me that it happens right after they released an expansion for the game... nice long term thinking there.

People get very emotionally attached to their MMORPGs. It's understandable, the amount of time and effort most people pour into them.

It is kinda funny the original AC has thoroughly outlasted AC2.

What bull****, I'd be pretty pissed off too. They should have to eat the cost to keep at least one server open.

Just one more reason not to buy a MMO.

I'd be mad too, to buy a game and find out I could only play for seven months.

I doubt anyone bought the expansion.

Aw well.
