Computer construction woes!

Okay so some of you may know that I'm building myself a new computer. Not that hard, I've done it before.
This time however has been chock full of problems.

1- I install the mobo first, before putting the backpanel thing on. Okay, no big deal. Take mobo off and put that on.

2- I start connecting the front panel wires (with the help of Cool Matty because im a moron). after a while of that I decide to look at how to put in the CPU and Heat Sink. Of course I did not know that socket 939 processors need a backing plate for the heatsink. So I have to undo the wiring, unscrew the mobo, and take that out. After taking that out, I realize theres already a backing plate on there. But I figure its better to use the backing plate that came with my Zalman Heatsink.

3- After installing the CPU and Heatsink I put the motherboard back into the case. I start connecting the wires and stuff. So I get to the point where I decide to install the video card. I start to take the video card out of the anti static bag when something flies out and falls to the ground. I pick it up and I realize that a capacitor fell off the card.
boooooooooooooooo
this means no gaming awesomeness until I get the card replaced... so Ill probably have to end up installing it when I get to school.

Argh I just hope nothing else goes wrong. cause that would suck.

I wouldnt worry about it... the first 2 things were my fault. And this is the first time ive had a product arrive broken from New Egg, so I doubt you will have the same thing happen to you.

Yeah, I've built computers a dozen times before, I'd have thought MB, being the RITian that he is, would have accomplished better results... That computer building business is pretty simple.

anyway. I repacked the video card (with all the little bits) and shipped it back off to new egg today. $12 i think. I dunno, I couldnt understand the cashier. She would say something... but I didnt know what... so I just answered with information. It might not have been what she needed or what she was asking for, but I told her.

<.<

So yea. Im hoping it gets to new egg tomorrow.... and then 3 day shipping back should mean either Friday or next monday Ill have my card.

<mb[packing]> the lady at the post office I couldnt understand
<mb[packing]> she was this short asian lady... who barely opened her mouth when she talked
<mb[packing]> so I heard "mwememhemeneal?"
<mb[packing]> "uhm... 2 day shipping?" was my answer
<mb[packing]> "meaunnhfhahh
<mb[packing]> "yes id like a confirmation sticker"
<mb[packing]> "loksinentn,em"
<SM_Adjudicator> Lol
<mb[packing]> "$12? how much would the insurance be?"
<mb[packing]> "iizuuzunn3458438@#"
<mb[packing]> "$4!? no thanks ill pass, its already broken"
<mb[packing]> then she stuck some stickers on the box
<mb[packing]> said have a nice day (easily understandable too)
<mb[packing]> and I left >.>
<mb[packing]> and now

I made kind of the same mistake with my Athlon64 (s754) when I got it. Though I kinda did it deliberately. Put it all together with stock HSF, then decided to try out the huge 500g copper beast, which needed a slightly more hefty backing plate and mount than the stock one.
"Whats that for?" "Thats the machine that goes 'ping'" PING!
Q. How many testers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. We just noticed the room was dark; we don't actually fix the problems.

When I was building my computer I got my hard drive stuck in the hard drive slot and I needed to pull the damn thing out. It wouldnt go, so I pulled harder and harder, until it finally pulled loose and jerked out, and smacked right into a bank of capacitors on the motherboard and bent them all 45 degrees over. I was like OH ****. Luckily nothing broke, but I sure as hell aint touching those things to try and straighten them out. So they remain there, all bent over. Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe :o

All it is is solder. You can move em back without any serious worry. You're lucky you didn't knock one off though.

Although I did knock one off my A7N8X... and it still works perfectly to this day.

I told MB two days ago he should just solder the capicitator back on, and he didn't know how, SOME GEEK

I haven't built one yet, but I'm going to when I go to college, move into a dorm. I'm going to custom-build the casing, which will consist entirely of fans. I plan to store drinks beside the motherboard. :)

It's already been done. (Someone have the pic?)

Someday, I want to make a case out of wood. I think that'd look totally kickass.

The best one was where they used the free space in like a 4x2x4 tower as a fridge.

Haha, this is better than seeing Jock-man get bested at being a man; A nerd is unable to accomplish one of the lowest levels of nerdom: Building a computer, and soldering a capaciter on.

I am laughing outloud, and that's rare for me and my scorn.
