My suggestion is to stop cracking your knuckles so vigorously... if you do it hard enough to actually sprain a joint, that's not good.

You may have some tendon damage beyond jsut over stretching it. If the swelling doesn't go down by tomorrow, a trip to the doctor will probably be in order.

So I was popping my knuckles last night and I think I may have sprained my finger. It felt weird at first and then started swelling up a little. I didn't think much of it and just went to bed, but it was still like that in the morning. I've had ice on it most of the day to stop the swelling, and am going to start using a finger brace. It doesn't hurt except when I try to straighten it out, but most of the time it's just uncomfortable because it's swollen. After tommorrow I'll probably start a warm compress to take the swelling down.

I'm only partly sure it's just a sprained finger because I sprained my finger a long time ago and it's very reminiscent of that, although the circumstances leading up to the injury are not the same. Anybody have any other ideas what this might be? The only other thing I can think of is dislocation.

There is something very wrong with this thread...
"It is not advisable, James, to venture unsolicited opinions. You should spare yourself the embarrassing discovery of their exact value to your listener."
"Rationality is the recognition of the fact that nothing can alter the truth and nothing can take precedence over that act of perceiving it."

"I wonder to myself. Why? Simply why? Why why? Why do I ask why? Why do I need to find out why? Why do I have to ask why as a question? Why is why always used to find out why? Why is the answer to why always why? Why is there no final answer to why? Simply why not? Holy cow, this is pretty deep, meaningful **** I wrote. Glad I wrote it down. Oh man."
