Was the escalator going up or down? That might affect it =/

Obviously, it'd only work if it were going up, if it were going to work.

The problem the slinky can't keep up with the escatlator, and after about two steps it misses and just falls down the escalator.

You can adjust the speed of those things..
I sense a secret mission coming up at the local mall...

Not on most you can't.

They're one speed, with an emergency stop button.

And if there is speed control it's under a locked panel.

Locks are only boxes that one must think outside of... or with a pair of metal clippers.

You could break open the escalator's circuitry and hotwire it, like in that commercial. :D

Aren't the steps too wide on most escalators?
Sorry for the lousy German

it would work if the escalator was made of rubber or carpet, not metal, but then it probably wouldnt work... obviously a metal to metal contact would be slippery though. needs friction.

It should work as long as you were on the escalator with the slinky when you started it. If you consider the escalator the frame of reference for the slinky, then the slinky should behave exactly the same way it would on any metal stairs regardless of which direction the escalator happens to be moving. The only problem should be the lack of friction.

That would be awesome to put a slinky on an up escalator and watch how long it goes.

Some slinky's are coated in rubber...

That's a really cool thought. :)

Someone should market a slinky + mini-escalator gadget thing on eBay. How cool would that be have on your desk?
