does anyone know if there is gonna be a jk4. i think there should be like a jk4 game where you have a choice to play the character role from the darkside E.G vader or the role from the lightside E.G luke.

what do you guys think?

I think there needs to be a JK3 before we have a JK4.

But honestly instead of making sequals I think they should just remake the classics on the new engines... except, on second thought maybe not because they'd definately screw it up. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

New Jedi game would be nice, if it would have same cool atmosphere JK had. JO&JA had "I'm so Star Wars product, just a product, nothing else"-atmosphere, which sucked sucked sucked. However, a new Dark Forces would be incredibly cool.

I miss Justin Chin... and the good games [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I think they've sort of beat the idea of the Jedi Knights series to death. Like another Massassien once said, if they make prequels it could work, but sequels...

i reckon just a new JA with a choice of storylines. and you are able to use proper melee moves

They should make one about Kyle's dad and his adventures before Dark Forces, culminating in his being beheaded at the end.

[edit]Of course that would be quite the downer to end on. And not quite the end scene many would want to play several hours to see...

That's actually not a bad idea though. I mean, wasn't the end to the original Doom your spaceship crashing and you dying? (it's been a long time... don't really remember)

But anyway, still it'd be neat to see the man that raised Kyle Katarn in action [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

actually yeah you guys are right that does sound cool playing the life of morgan katarn.. and it could also include you training kyle (most of you wont agree)
2004-05-23, 9:43 AM #13
yeah, since morgan had been dead for years by the time kyle started his "training," if you can even call it that [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

He left a lightsaber in a droid and said "be a jedi"

You mean Dark Forces 2. JK doesn't count.
2004-05-23, 11:08 AM #16
Yes it does. JK is titled Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight

Morgan was supposed to be some kick-*** pilot, not to mention imperial strategist. Maybe a 1st person shooter and a pilot game would be nice. No.Force.Or.Sabers.

Then, off of that, Qu Rahn should be further elaborated on. He was so cool.

But JO wasn't titled Dark Forces 3: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast because it would be too long. It's still the Dark Forces series of games, all the way up through JA. I would argue, however, that JK, JO, and JA don't fit with the original style of gameplay that was Dark Forces. Therefore I would say we haven't seen a true Dark Forces 2. JK was a branch off of DF in terms of gameplay style.

No. The game is not titled that. If it were titled that, it would be on the box.

LucasArts seems to think differently.

EDIT: Unless you're referring to JA.

Indeed, LEC. We want a Dark Forces Prequel.

Mercenary bad-arse Kyle, doing business with smugglers, doing the Alliance's dirty laundry against an Empire at the height of it's power.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

I agree with the DF prequell... Because I don't think Lucasarts can stand any game with a lightsabre/polygon ratio of less than 1:10, They COULD perhaps throw in Qu Rahn.

As for Doom, it has a sappy ending, with you "finally" returning to Earth. Of course, Doom2 follows...

JA is pretty fun for me so far, the single player level designs are great compare to the imperial bases of JO. The only disappointment is the lightsaber combat system, I still would like to see a more strategic lightsaber combat system that relies more blocking, timing, and parrying.

The only way a new DF game would be good is if it got rid of Kyle Katarn & co. and got all new characters (not ones we've seen before in games or movies) . No force powers, either.

Or, have a game that's played from the Imperial side, with you as a stormtrooper. The game starts with oyu training at the academy, and as the game goes on, you fight against the rebellion. This is a basic plot and won't hold water all by itself, but with more development, it could be a feasable game.

There were rumors of another JK type gsme, but it was going to be a tie-in to Episode III, and the main character was 'supposed' to be Anakin/Darth Vader. That would be interesting...

Except it would just be another JO/JA game where you run around vanquishing people with a lightsaber/the force

If if doesn't have Kyle or any relation to him, it had better not be title as part of the DF series. Period.
