Stolen from Fark. Wow, just, wow. Not even so much the actual hardware as the people who:
a; thought it was necessary to buy it
and
b; thought that customs would have no problem bringing it through.

My first thought was, that's a klingon wet-dream. My second thought was.. why the frell????

Edit: i wish they had pictures of the people they seized it from. I'm torn between curiousity and the urge to point and giggle.

And there's me thinking this was a Crocodile Dundee thread.

Btw, I agree it looks like something Klingon.
But I personally think a Klingon wielding a Bat'leth would own some poor sucker with that thing.

You should get a real sword and not toys like that... Sword has as a weapon 5000 years of history, so you could say it has achieved perfection. But that... thing?

One thing the article fails to mention is that that particular knife isn't even sharp. In fact, it's a display knife. It would break if you ever tried to use it for anything more than showing off. It looks impractical because it's designed to sit on a rack on your wall.

None of the items in that particular shipment were "destined for the streets", and it pisses me off to all hell that the cops said that. It would have been more fitting for them to say "These replica items were destined for a private collectors living room, so we gave him a warning about not getting an import permit, just so it looks like we're doing our job."

The thing is, you would only have to pull the thing out. Your vicitm just seeing it should do the trick.

Ha I saw one of those in St. Augustine. The guy let me pick it up. It was like 30lbs. It's a joke. But they guy also had a nightstick they unscrews and turns into numb-chucks (sp). Anyway the klingon thing also looks a bit stupid... looks heavy and awkward more than it would be useful. A nice rapier, sabre or longsword would be much better on every level.

The Indians used a weapon similar to it for centuries called a 'katar', except their version was smaller and lighter. It has the advantages of lining up straight with the forearm and it can be used in a punching motion, rather than the 3 cardinal stabs.

If you can box, you can use a katar lethally. It's quite an impressive weapon and I want one very badly.
