Okay, so I've made this thread (or one virtually identical to it) many many times, but really, I think it bears stating again.

On this computer, I am unable to access even the most basic image editing program (seriously, Paint would do), I can't apply for the online banking service I want, I can't buy the football tickets I want (which will probably mean I'll never get to see Arsenal play at Highbury, as this is our last season there), I have to use goddam IE which makes me want to kill, and I have to do all this in a horribly uncomfortable chair, in a room full of children, with a time limit. On the plus side, atleast it's free.

But since I'm here, I may as well say hi and give you all an update on the fascinating life of Maeve.
I recently managed to find temporary employment, which is good, but they ran out of work for me to do, which is bad. Hopefully I'll have another placement on Monday and then I can actually begin saving for my travelling next year.
The little thugs which hang out outside my house and make my life miserable finally crossed the line when they poured water over me and my mum last week (they were convinced we'd done something to this thing they sit on, when it's far more likely the council did it to stop them sitting on public property), so we're moving asap. Probably to Brighton, a small, trendy city on the south coast of England, but we'll be right on the edge, so my mum can literally step out of the door and go walking on the Downs. We just need to find someone to houseswap with, which I think we've done, so hopefully we'll be gone before christmas.
And happydud has just let me know that there is a video card on the way to me, so with any luck I'll be back spending all my time on IRC by next weekend.

Love to you all,

Queen Mavis of Poo.

Maevie: http://sorrowind.net/cgi-bin/nph-runner.cgi

Whenever you are on a public PC, use that. You'll probably find that 99% of all the websites you visit will start working again.

(Uncheck the scripts box though, you'll get more compatibility)

To be honest, that computer doesn't actually sound like something anybody would pay for to use...

Well, I'm sure everything will be fine as long as you remember the pride of Connacht and keep your sword sharp and shield shiny.

Odd. I don't see why you can't use online banking and buy football tickets. I'm using a public computer too, Maevie, at my public library. How long have you been doing so? I've been without Internet at home for aobut a year now. You get used to the public ones after a while, though.

Seriously though guys, you can't take posts from two different threads and hold the person to em. It's not ethical.

I've been to Brighton before. It's one of the bigger of those little seaside cities in Kent. We were only in it for about an hour though.

I'm thingking about moving to Canterbury in a few years. Maybe I'll visit you or something...
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

Well, it'll be some time before computers are as cheap as books... For various yet pretty obvious reasons. And computer manufacturing is anyway just as industrial as book manufacturing already, so one might say your metaphor is fundamentally flawed.

Well, I have new sucky news. The videocard from happydud arrived this morning, and hasn't solved the problem with my comp. I'll put a thread in the technology forum in case anyone has any other ideas. CM's proxy works though, so now if anyone has £70.00 to lend me so I can grab those arsenal tickets.... :p

Also, totally unrelated and not relevant to any of you, a friend of the family had a baby girl this morning, 6 pounds 11 ounces. I shall be visiting her on Sunday. Hurrah. Expect pics and lots of girly blabbering about squishiness.
