This mod is awesome. If any of you have played the first one, you kinda have an idea of the gameplay. DoD-esque only set in the Revolutionary War times. Back then it was ugly, clunky, and laggy. They fixed most of the issues in this one, and it's insanely fun.

Check it out.

Do people actually play this one? I remember the old one. Nobody ever played it.

One mod I wish they would re-released for Source is the matrix one.. Existance i think.

Should we have a Brits vs. Yanks Massassians match?

I remember a long time ago, the team behind that mod did abandon the Half-Life version in hopes of porting it to the Source engine. Sadly however, that team seem to have disbanded.

You mean The Specialists?

But yeah, a lot of people play this one. More than the HL1 version I'd say.

'Mon the Redcoats.

I don't know a single thing about the "war for independence" [besides what I saw in The Patriot], but looks interesting. Downloading

This mod is SOURCE? Because if I understand correctly, all screenies are from HL1.

I'm holding out for DOD:S since it's due on the 26th (yes I'm believing them)

Day of Defeat: Source Available September 26
September 9, 2005, 12:20 pm · Chris Bokitch
Day of Defeat®: Source™ (DoD: Source), the latest version of the WWII online action game from Valve®, will be made available to gamers everywhere on September 26.

"Day of Defeat has quietly been one of the most played online action games for the past three years," said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve. "Day of Defeat: Source represents a major leap forward in both graphics and gameplay, and pushes the Source engine harder than any other Source project. "

DoD: Source takes the classic teamplay of DoD and expands the experience with Source, the engine technology Valve created for Half-Life® 2 and it's next generation of games. With this technology, DoD: Source offers state of the art graphics with optimized versions of popular maps and all new player, weapon and world models, plus support for HDR lighting.

DoD: Source leverages the power of the Source engine by introducing advanced sound technology to provide a more immersive soundscape and integrated physics simulation technology for ragdolls and physically simulated objects throughout each map.

Available via Steam for just $19.95 and in the Counter-Strike: Source retail package, DoD: Source is a rebuild from the ground up of Day of Defeat on the Source engine.

DoD: Source will be available for pre-load and pre-order next week. Those who purchased the Half-Life 2 Silver or Gold Steam offers will receive a request to pre-load the game at this time and will receive access to play the moment the game is made available.

For more information, visit www.steampowered.com

Valve, Day of Defeat and Source are trademarks or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the United States and/or other countries.

I see how it is. No one's interested in Dystopia, even when Massassi has its' own server, but OMQ WAR MOD and everyone jumps right on it.

:p

But seriously, me and Ober are lonely. :(

Well, I'm on right now alone, but I imagine Ober'll probably show up eventually. Last night we played 1v1 for an hour or so. We even did some skeet shooting and sword fighting.

Dystopia is fun when you get a server with people who work together.

so far, if I remember right, they just ported the mod to the source engine without visual upgrades. I guess that's what they're working on now.

I don't think so...there's still some obvious HL1 models, but it looks very nice for a HL1 game. Not even HL:Source looked this good.

THIS is a fun game. DJYoshi and I were playing on the RR server, and I sat and manned the cannon, aiming it particularly and waiting for the perfect moment... just to have some idiot run up and hit the cannon, killing half the team. Our team. He did this repeatedly, making ME look like the perp. Oh man, I was getting pissed.

But seriously, it's the first game I've played in a long time that is just FUN. And it's a lot more war-esque with the 1 shot and reload. I really don't like how everyone wants to form a line. Anyway, VERY fun game, and if you don't really like DM or CSS, and want some realistic, and fun gameplay: This is the game for you.

I was quoted saying: "This is the first game you can be good at without aimbot."
