This is my post from the unrealplayground forums, I was hoping one of you might find a cure.

Ok, so I finally managed to fix the bug with the static meshes...

Now I save everything and hit "play level". UT2004 tries to load up, but freezes. No surprise there! So I reboot my computer, then I double click on my UT2004 icon.

... nothing happends.

I try to go through the start menu...

...nothing happends

I try going in my UT2004/system folder and opening the .exe file

...nothing happends

I try clearing the cache...

...nothing happends!

Debugger.exe doesn't work, Unrealed.exe doesn't work and UT2004.exe doesn't work. Safe mode doesn't work either. I get no error messages. My CD starts turning but cools down after a few seconds. This is from the .log file:

Then I tried moving my map's .ut2 file in another directory. Still no effect.

Any ideas? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

(When this happened I was launching a custom map from the editor).

I'm going to bed. If I don't have a solution by the time I wake up, I'll reinstall everything. If my map doesn't load after that, I'll go kill myself.

LOL! Some n00b got a hold of your CD Key, or generated one that was the same as yours (the odds of that happening, wow), and the server sees both of them. If you bought your game, you need to call Epic.

either that or SOMETIMES, the game screws up and messes up your key. I know it did it with UT2k3 for me. A fresh install made everything better. SOMETIMES. Ubuu probably hit the nail on the head, though

Thankfully that's not it. This is the message I get when I double-click the .exe, before I even connect to the servers. So the problem is obviousely local. I also had the same thing happen when I reformatted my C: drive (UT was on D [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] and reinstalling fixed it. I just hate having to delete and reinstall 7 gigs AGAIN on a hard drive that's already too fragmented. :S

It's just a little LONG defragging a 40 gig HD.

Then it's probably not as badly fragmented as mine. Last time I left it on all night and it wasn't done by morning
