See for yourself. It just disappeared when I was working on my english homework (pictures for visual aid for oral research presentation tomorrow). I needed to open MS Photo Editor and the button was gone! So I had to detour through "c:\docs and sets\blahblah\start menu\programs"
Good thing I got a screenie before the power went out a few minutes ago (just before I was going to post it -- it went out for like 1-2 seconds).

Would the Windows key work? It looks like it was having some other drawing problems too, what with the half-earth on the bottom-right.

You could always (in this sort of situation) bring up the taskman, then end task for explorer.exe - it would refresh the shell.

Obviously the fact that you're using an older version of Windows and programs that don't properly free system resources means you should switch to Linux.

Linusu ackbar etc.

Rédemarrer l'ordinateur.
(restart computer)

Probably a program not freeing up the memory as Jon said.

I'm pretty sure the process manager is only in XP, in which case he's out of luck. Also, shutting down Explorer in anything other then XP will result in a BSOD, i believe.

Ok, i don't know much about 2000, but what OS is Slaw on? that could be anything from 95 through XP (on classic theme) at least.

Yeah, it's win2k. I'm a Windows whore [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

The half earth isn't a drawing problem; is my mom's weather monitor... umm... shortcut? Brings up a weather monitoring web site.
[pre-post edit]: Whoa! on second viewing, that IS a drawing error! It's supposed to be against the edge of the screen.

Oh yeah, and Windows key didn't work either.

Only prob with restarting my computer is the fact that it takes about 6-8 minutes to fully boot, and until then I can't do squat. After my parents transfer all their stuff onto their new Dell, I'll see if I can reformat the hd and reinstall only the stuff I actually use.
Of course, the fact that the power went out (for 2 frigging seconds!!!)gave me no choice in that matter (of restarting, that is).
