That quote is probably going to go down in history.

What's wrong with that? He had to go to the bathroom and was wondering if it were possible to do. It's not like he's shouting at the top of his lungs, "I GOTTA PEEEEEE!"

THE FACT HE HAS TO ASK THE SECRETARY OF STATE IF HE CAN USE THE BATHROOM! Hahaha, it's like me asking my 3rd grade teacher to use the rest room. :p

Well although it would be embarassing, it's better than just standing up and walking out.
.
2005-09-15, 12:24 PM #6
Exactly. Rather than walking out he asked first, so as not to be disrespectful.

lol, well he would have to stand up and walk out anyway, what is he gonna do, raise his hand and say "Hey, guys, look, I need to use the restroom. If any of you give me lip, I'll invade your country and overthrow you. Be back in 5." So yeah, asking his mo...I mean the secretary of state is jsut as funny.

TimeWolf, its just a funny joke. Get over it. People make fun of Clinton saying "I didn't inhale" and other things. It also didn't mention who was speaking at the time, him, Rice or someone else. Just that he asked her for permission. Odds are though he would have been "disrespectful" by leaving anyway. Just raise your hand and ask for a 5 minute break.

I'm not losing any sleep over it - I just fail to see how someone having to take a piss qualifies as newsworthy.

It's not the least bit newsworthy.

Just funny. :)

Yes, by not flushing more toilets the water built up and caused the storm formation which in turn returned to where people should have been flushing the toilets.

Uhhhm, if the BBC News isn't reputable, it's the end of the world.

This is probably the number one reason why I would never want to be president. Your every move is scrutinized, taken apart, and otherwise analyzed for anything people might find funny/interesting/offensive. No way I'd want people THAT interested in what I was doing.

The one lasting thing I'll take away from this administration is the realization that important figures (leader of the free world, four star general, whatever) aren't that special and are pretty much making it up as they go along. Like, there's this expectation that they're particularly smart and talented and competent, but they're really not. They're really just muddling around.

I don't how this relates to Bush's bathroom note.
2005-09-15, 6:23 PM #29
George Bush is a cool guy. This is up there with the pretzel. yaay.

Bush was doing the polite thing by not interupting anything. The note could be passed along to whoever is moderating and there could be a break fo such things to be done. The fact that the media is even reporting something so stupid is boggling.

lighten up, we're joking, not (for the most part) making it a big deal and citing it as a reason why he shouldn't be president...it's all in good fun :)

Obviously, but that people make a big deal of it is extremely lame.

Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem like he's "asking permission" at all. He's in a summit with other world leaders and I doubt it would be possible to just get up and walk out with out offending everyone there, especially with the type of ego that everyone thinks the US has, like he's say "I'm too good for this" or what not.

It just seems like he hadn't been in that situation before and he was asking advice on how to go about taking a potty break without causing a situation. I do, however, find it funny he put a question mark on the end of that first sentence, like he wasn't sure in the first place if he really did need to go to the bathroom. :p

New sources don't get much more reputable than the BBC. And as for the story, why wouldn't you believe it? I would bet that almost everyone who's worked in any diplomatic capacity has had to do something like this at some point in their career. Bush just happened to get caught.

I don't think anyone's trying to insinuate anything about Bush's leadership abilities from this. It's just funny.

I don't think he was asking PERMISSION. He is an adult after all. He was asking if she thought it would be better to wait. He wanted advice, not a hall pass.
