Final Fantasy - Advent Children

Without going into too much depth onto how I got the film, I've just finished watching it.

All I have to say is...Wow.

This movie far surpasses my expectations. Although it was subtitled (which I am not a big fan of) it was absolutely mesmerizing.

Honestly, the animation is brilliant. It's so lifelike it's unbelievable. It puts Spirits Within to shame.

The battle scenes are...Wow. Just Wow. Matrix x1000. I mean, you'll be on the edge of your seat during the battle scenes, and that's honestly a strange thing for me to say. I'm rarely ont he edge of my seat during films, and this one accomplished it with ease.

The music is brilliant..Of course Nobuo Omatsu (sp?) comes through again.

Good news for those of you that wanted more out of the time of the film... It's not the rumored 90 minute's, but in fact, it's 1 hour and 41 minutes long.

And lastly..OMG SEPHIROTH!!!

Trust me guys, when this film comes out, you will NOT be disappointed.

Bear in mind it's a fanboy movie. If you didn't like the game, then it's probably not for you.
Action ++
Coherent Storyline --

it makes sense, but in that ffvii way if you know what I mean.

I've played about a half hour of FFVII, plus 8 hours of watching someone play, for a net total, of let's say, 6 and a half hours of gameplay. Most of it was chocobo raising, but I got the idea. Actually, I was dissapointed by the lack of chocobos, but that'as another issue for another thread.
After seeing this... damn. Now THAT'S how you make a Final Fantasy movie. Seriosuly.
You really get the feeling towards the end of the movie that Sephiroth coming back to life is the absolute worst possible scenario, and that when it happens it really is something like all hell breaking loose (as opposed to genetically mutating loose), the devil walking the earth, etc.
BTW, what exactly is the origin of Sephiroth? The fan sites I've all seen have been completely incomprehensible, and the majority of my gameplay was chocobo raising and fighting the weapons, and the little things sprinkled in the movie are just a little hard to understand.
And furthermore, Sephiroth truly has a classy Star-Wars-Esque brand of trashtalk, y'ow'mu'sayin? "Tell me what is most important to you. Would you give me the satisfaction of taking it from you?"
And besides, the Swiss-Army-Sword Omnislash at the end was entirely worth it.
I knew they were gonna end it with either Omnislash or Knights of the round, and I don't think they felt like cramming 11 minutes of boredom into the end of the movie.
I did like the end of the church fight, where the guy's cellphone rings and everything. "I'm not crying!"
And speaking of goofy American guys in the movie, it's good to see the Rock again, am I right?

Sephiroth's Origin, the abridged edition:

Sephiroth was created in an experiment conducted by Shinra Corp. While he was still a fetus, his mother was injected with cells from an unidentified long-dead creature who, thousands of years ago, nearly destroyed the planet. He's able to sustain his consciousness and retain control over Jenova's cells through sheer force of will.

And chocobos are far from an important part of FFVII. :p

Judging by the impressions I have been reading, it seems like that players who liked FFVII will only see and understand this movie. Otherwise, the casual audience won't understand what's going on at all because of the necessity for knowing the FFVII plot.

Ok... cloud had one giant sword, that was made of eight lesser swords.

That movie was so awesome.

Cait Sith riding on RedXIII was awesome, Cid jumping around like a crazy dragoon was awesome, Barret's new gun arm was awesome. The final sephiroth fight was awesome. Vincent kicked some serious ***... which was awesome.

Omg it was awesome.

Thats basically it. After that, he runs around and attempts to destroy the planet with a giant meteor, and nearly suceeds.

Huh. I think I'm beginning to understand.
So, when Sephiroth dies at the end of the game, he's actually just seperated from Mother (what would Frued say?), but everyone who has Geostigma has Mother, so Reunion is the joining of Sephiroth to a Geostigma person?
Or is he Geostigma (as Vincent absolutely stated, now that I remember)? So that would mean that...
Let's see...
Meteor=Mother, Sephiroth=Geostigma, Mother=Jenova, Lifestream=Poluted by first three... so...
Wait, the other guys were "larva", or "spirits" (heh, spirits within), so they... what were they spirits of? Spirits of Jenova? So the idea is that if Sephiroth joins with Jenova, then he will be back? No, spirits of Sephiroth, and Jenova's head is Mother...
It's becoming clearer now.
The head of Jenova, AKA Mother, is polluting the Lifestream... Wait, I have it wrong...
Geostigma is an auto-immune response, like a fever or something. So...
the head, the Mother, polluting Lifestream because... it has noplace else to go? Is Sephiroth the vessel of Mother?
So the Geostigma is created by Mother in the Lifestream, but it's a side effect. The Lifestream is trying to get rid of Mother. When Sephiroth is combined with the Lifestream... the Lifestream dumps Geostigma into him? Does that even make sense?
Kinda... kinda like Revolutions, where the whole fight was because if Smith infected Neo, he would be in contact with the source, and he wasn't powerful enough to escape deletion by it. So Sephiroth must be conjured, in order for Mother to Reunite, and then the Lifestream will no longer be in conflict with Mother, and there will be no Geostigma!
unfortunately, it does mean that first Sephiroth mut be conjured.
That old saying about cures worse than ailments comes to mind.

-I don't think I get it.

When sephiroth died, he was absorbed into the lifestream, along with the Jenova cells inside him. Jenova was not meant to enter the lifestream, and then polluted the lifestream with her evilness. The children that were born had the lifestream put into them when they were born, and then small bits of jenova. Because the ammount of Jenova inside the chilldren is so small, it reacts with the lifestream to make them sick. Cloud gets geostigma because he was basically inside the lifestream when Jenova was infused into it, which also explains why he was affected worse than most. The black water allows the three sephiroth clones (I'm pretty sure thats what they were, thats the only thing I don't know) to control the Jenova cells in the children.

Im pretty sure the three guys are sephiroth clones, or something, possibly created in the meteor cavern after sephy died. (Which explains why they were there when Shinra went to get Jenova's head). They could have basically been sephiroth's mind split into 3 different beings, which would also explain why they were so different, and had really differning personalities. (Quiet one, emotional one/strong one, leader guy). However, they were not infused with Jenova cells, as sephiroth was, and want the Jenova cells so they can have the "Reunion" with mother, and become sephiroth again. Which is why the leader guy drinks the Jenova cells, he becomes sephiroth.

The only thing I honestly did not get is what happened to Elana and Reeve. That made no sense to me at all.

Cloud didn't get Geostigma because he was in the Lifestream, Cloud got Geostigma because he was injected with Jenova cells (it's one of the reasons he's so powerful, and it's why his head buzzes when he cuts open Jenova's head - he's basically the same thing as Sephiroth, only he's not psychotic).

Jenova's original plan, and the plan Sephiroth adopted, was to absorb the Lifestream and use it to become more powerful. Shinra built a cannon that fired bolts of refined lifestream energy (a Mako Cannon, called the Sister Ray - built into the side of Midgar) and all it did was make Sephiroth stronger.
When the Lifestream internal to a person tries to combat the Jenova infection, the infection absorbs the Lifestream and becomes stronger - draining the person of their life force, until eventually they die, and Jenova returns to the lifestream stronger than before. The FF7 planet is infected.

Given the ages of the children who were infected, the Geostigma must have started almost immediately after the Nibelheim incident. Then you have Cloud, who's the last surviving Jenova host (SOLDIER, Sephiroth Clone), and Rufus -- who could have died and come back to life like Cloud, or injected himself with Jenova cells too, or any number of things.

Remember, even if I did pirate it, which (as all things you usually tend to do with me) you are ASSUMING I did, it's legal where I live to do so. On top of that, I didn't discuss HOW I got it. We're discussing the movie. Not the means of obtaining it. If I posted a link to it, then it would be a violation of the rules. Not simply saying "OMG THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING".

Try again.

Thats why Kadja had the ID cards that he threw at el presidante when he was asking him about mother, they were covered in blood, he was trying to piss him off me thinks.
