Does anyone else think that could possibly be Raiden? Maybe?
It made me sad to see snake so old, like really.
But of course nothing is stopping them from making more games earlier in the timeline with a younger snake.

That pic isn't confirmedly snake. Snake is the lead, but that's not necessarily him (though yes I agree, it's him)

Why would they release the first pictures of a new game of a charachter that isnt snake?

the guy in the pics posted in this thread above has got to be BB... Snake still has two eyes... and I don't think snake is the 'stahe kinda man, he's all about the mullets and stubble.

it's entirly possible thats simple from a cutscene telling you about BB while the new villian taunt snake with his tormented past and heritiage. we all know how many cuscenes are in a MGS game.

That's not necessarily an eyepatch. It kind of looks like a video codec/radar/display thing. See in the bottom right hand corner?

Maybe he lost an eye somewhere along the line and it's cybernetic?

maybe, but the eye patch thing was always a trademark of the BB, even solidus had one eventually, I just can't see that old geezer as snake.

Hideo loves to keep everyone guessing tho, I'm sure the game will be a total knock out and be an aweseom addition to the franchise, but still... he's old... please let him be BB.

in other news, I'm happy with the way Otakon looks in the screens I've seen.

well, remember MGS2 SOL? we played the first few missions as snake and then played the rest as Raiden (ung), perhaps these are screens from either cutscenes, or that is indeed BB that you play as during the beggining of the game to set up the story. after the fans hated SOL so much, I doubt he'd do something like that again tho, but then again... it is BB, the man who started it all, I'm sure fans would love to get a chancet to play him for a bit again.

Honestly, I saw no difference between Big Boss and Solid Snake, except Big Boss nailed the girl in the end. I thought Big Boss was just as much of a bad *** as Solid Snake was.

Oh another note. Those are ingame screenshots, and not cutscenes. So either Snake lost an eye, or Big Boss is still alive.

Snake truly is that old. Apparently I've learned in the Document of MGS2, because Snake is a clone of his dad, his aging process is accelrated. And the eye patch is a mini-targeting system/codec. View video here: MGS4 vid

BTW, from what I read, Raiden will be in this but a lot cooler(hopefully). And also there is some sort of system in place where you will face different countries. If 2 are going at each other and you happened to kill a soldier on one side, the other side might become your ally.

Gamespot has it listed as MGS4: Guns of the Patriots. Not a bad name if it's real, and there's some interesting information in the article. Anyway, if anyone remembers back to the first picture released for MGS4, Big Boss was one of the 8 characters lined up. Additionally, Snake didn't look much older in that picture either.

Either way, I can't wait. MGS will always be one of my favourite series of games.

Personally, I'm convinced it's big boss. Snake was all about the stubble, the knife is held the same way as in MGS3, as is the gun + the equipment and stance are the same as in MGS3.

And what looks like an eyepatch, and in the original screen we saw, the guy that people thought was either big boss or a corpse had a 'tash, much like the guy pictured.

I'm going to have such a hard time waiting to buy a PS3 when this game comes out.... seriously. I won't buy a gaming system for over 200, so I have to wait till it goes down in price... but MAN....

I don't like the fact that Snake looks like that...but wow the graphics are damn impressive.
