What Jedi Game Should I Get?
2005-09-16, 7:29 AM #1
My friend is buidling me a PC, and he said he'd throw in any game ever made. Well I already have Jedi Knight, and was thinking of Jedi Academy. I really like to role-play in the Star Wars world using my Jedi character Johta Fett (yes, i am a geek). Any suggestions? Is academy really good? Or should i just stick to SBX @ JHS?

i liked academy. have you played outcast? you don't need to but you should. i found it a bit easy to kill the final boss (easier than it should've been). but it was good.

JO > JK > DF > JA. IMO.

So now that we know Freelancer's opinion is invalid, I suggest you think about titles that aren't in the Jedi Knight series. Like Deus Ex. \m/

Both JO and JA are bargain stuff nowadays, so the cost shouldn't be a problem, if you want to try them out. And most certainly they are worth the bargain price...

If you want a Jedi game, then go KOTOR, I guess, or JA.

If you are wise, . . . .

GET DEUS EX.

Or "Fallout". Or "Planescape: Torment". Or "Anachronox". But if it should be SW, then go for KOTOR.

JK and DF are really the only ones worth considering... though technically DF isn't a "Jedi" game. KOTOR is good though if you're looking for something like that.

If "beefed up" has the same meaning as "****ed up" I totally agree with you.

Except it's not a jedi game.

KotOR rocks. I never really got into the second one. Telos just seemed to go on forever. I might try playing it again one day.

JO and JA are equally awesome, I think, but JA's cool cause you can create your own character. It'd be cool if you could design your own character textures, though.

Point being, I'd say to go with JA, but I've never played the KotOR games. I suggest you play some demos and decide on a title that way.

On a side note,

Koobie: Fallout titles = peak of aweXome

Other people: Deus Ex = also awexome!

I would say JO > JA because JO SP rocked and JA SP wasn't so great.

I concur, go with KotOR. ;)

JO SP > JA SP

And JO MP > JA MP

JA is all about just running at eachother with random SATAs.

JO actually has strategy involved, and although it may look a bit silly, it sure is a heck of a lot more complex and fun.

yup, JO is better than JA in every possibly way.

Deus Ex.

Or just get some of them. I don't think you can get any über experience from the older games anymore, so it doesn't really matter.

Yes, SBX, but not at JHS.

JO and JA are fun for single player, MP sucks in my opinion. JO's SP levels and story are way better than JA's though.

It's hard to find someone hear who isn't a nerd, but it is a wrong assumption that those who play video games don't get fresh air.

JO MP > JA MP
JO SP < JA SP

Although both are mediocre in all respects when compared to JK/MotS.

Hmmmm.... a lot of mixed reviews, interesting. Well he already got JA for me, so i guess I'll see how that turns out. Oh and you need a pic to go with that quote...

JO had the better story line but JA had a better system. JO you didnt start with the saber or Force, and even then you couldnt choose what Force powers you wanted like in JA.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

VERY interesting. I want to sort of role play with it. I guess JA does sound better. Besides, I want to make my own Jedi, I mean come on, don't we all pretend in our heads that we are in the Star Wars universe, and the games make us live that experience? Thanks Thrawn.

JA has a piss poor selection of Jedi to choose from though.

But yeah, the choosing your own powers, heck even has 2 seperate endings (WITH 2 seperate bosses!) is kind of fun.

Personally, KotoR would be better for roleplaying a Jedi because you have much more freedom about how you level up your character.

Perhaps because KotOR is a *gasp* roleplaying game?
