Where did my bookmarks go?!?!

I opened up firefox today, and went under my bookmarks, and there was nothing there! Has anyone had this problem before, and if so, is there any way to get them back? :(

Welcome to teh tech forumz.

Edit: I'm trying to explain that you'd get help quicker if you'd use the Technology forum. Also, that's a common problem that people have been having as of late, and above is a link to multiple articles on the subject, depending on which situation you're having.

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data(It's hidden, make sure hidden files are revealed)\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\BunchOJunk\bookmarks.html

Use import to bring em back.

Although its more likely that you accidentally started using a new profile too. Make sure EVERY instance of firefox is closed (rebooting is the best way), and try again.

Why did this happen!

There are quite a few reasons that this could happen, which means you either need to tell us more, or try the Google link above, which provides information on how to restore your bookmarks, depending on the situation.

Yeah, I don't know what happened, they were there, and now they aren't. That's the best I have. All I did was shut down my computer last night and get on this morning and no more bookmarks. I tried restoring the old ones using the html and bak file but they're just blank. :(

That happened to me once. Right after reading a thread where it was mentioned that Firefox did that a lot. :p

Firefox isn't as perfect as all the fanboys want you to believe. I use it, sure, but it still has issues.

Seriously, I find it hilarious that you can post about a problem with Firefox in some forum (not necessarily this one btw), and 80% of the answers will tell you how the problem really "doesn't exist," how "it's your fault because Firefox is so much better than Internet Explorer" or some stupid crap like that. Firefox had problems with bookmarks disappearing, and perhaps still has. Fact.

The worst part is no matter how hard you try to add them all back, you always will feel like you are missing some :(

I remember hearing about a problem like that, but it was in pre-1.0 (I think .9, the worst of the pre-1.0 ver).

Are your extensions still installed?

If not you've somehow created a new profile.

Try running with the -p command line switch. firefox.exe -p. It'll show you all the profiles.
