You can get the awesome Opera web browser for free and with no ads on a variety of platforms.

http://www.opera.com/

Opera is by far my favorite browser, much snappier than FireFox, and you can customize the interface to an extreme degree.

Coolness. It not being free is all that has kept me from using it.

Awesome. I'll have to give it another try. I used it before Firefox came out, but I switched and never looked back.

How's its rendering engine? It's a nice browser, but honestly, with all the awesome Firefox extensions plus the milestone 1.5 release coming up, I don't see any reason to bother.

Yea =/ I used to use it, but it was immensely clunky and kind of bloated .. switched to (then phoenix) firefox and never looked back

it has, however, been quite a while.

I sort of agree. In the pre-Firefox days, Opera was the best browser around. It's still good, but after 5 minutes of using it I was already missing the Firefox adblock extension.

Good. I broke Opera a few weeks ago and had to reinstall the free version and hated all the ads and pop ups. Glad that I got this one back again.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Does it have a PHYSICS ENGINE

I installed it when they were giving away reg codes a few weeks back (actually, if you look on the latest post your desktop thread, you'll see I still have a text file with the free codes in it on there), but I haven't used it too much. I like what I've seen of it so far, but all of my favorites are already in Firefox, along with the extensions I love so much. I may keep trying to make myself familiar with it though.

I doubt I would abandon Firefox...

If it doesn't have anything like FireFox's AdBlock, then I can't use it.

It has an incredible zoom function, other than that the rendering engine is inferior to Firefox. It's actually the most frustrating browser to develop for because if your design works in Firefox but not Opera there aren't any parsing hacks to help you - at least with IE you can work around any problems in a matter of seconds.

I just got it ad free a few weeks ago when they were giving away serials for free. I don't use it but it's nice to have for testing my web pages :)

Search for adblock and opera on google and they will tell you how to do url filters. Not quite as good, though.

You could always just edit your hosts file to block ads. That works with all the browsers. ;)
