Hurricane RITA

Well, I'd just like to say that hurricane RITA is causing a lot of commotion around here in Austin, TX. We're not expected to get hit hard but people are still buying up a storm. I work in a cell phone kiosk inside a Sam's Club in Round Rock, just north of Austin, and this place is packed! They already ran out of water about 3 hours ago, and just a little while ago, when they happened to find another pallet, it went FAST as about 50 people swarmed it. The lines for the register are longer than I've ever seen them. I'm thinking, don't people have jugs and water facets?

Anyway, I heard that since Austin is about 200 miles inland, we're probably going to be expecting 70 mph winds and a lot of rainfall. I'm not worried though, if it rains, let it rain.

If anybody is coming from the coastline and absolutely cannot find a hotel or shelter, we have an extra room in my house to board someone, if needed.

I'm between Dallas and Forth Worth... (Grapevine)... Anyways, we're expecting a lot of rain, not too much more. My sister is at Rice Univ. in Houston, so she's... probably staying there, actually. Perhaps coming up here for a few days.

Rita's a cat. 5 now. If it hits any populated areas, it's going to be bad.
Pissed Off?

185 MPH last heard on Fox News. I would think that the upwelling of cooler waters from Katrina would keep this at min a weak 4.

Look, I don't mean to insult the people that live there or anything. I'm just saying hurricanes are a hassle that I refuse to deal with. The people who do are admirable, though I honestly can't understand why they would want to go back if everything was destroyed.

Yeah, Im in Arlington. Aint gonna get much but rain most likely.

You know, its kind of funny in a wrong sort of way that this thing is gonna hit Houston where all the New Orleans refugees went.

It's also sad that the oil might once again go up because it might take out the refineries.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I dont think this hurricane will be a big deal. Its only natural for people to freak out after what happened.

It's now predicted down to 170 some mph. Although that's still pretty intense.

Speaking of the hurricanes, has anyone else heard about the weather man who is saying that these hurricanes are man made? He claims that he has "proof" that the Japanize Yakuza are using Russian developed technology to hit us with hurricanes. More or less revenge for the atom bombs in WW2. Here is the official site from what I can gather, if you plug in "Yakuza" and "hurricanes" into Google you also get some miscellanious news articles.

A Category 4 hurricane making landfall is a big deal, no matter where it happens. It won't be a repeat of New Orleans, but there will be widespread damage.

How old are you and where is your apartment? If you don't mine me asking... I'm in grapevine... and 18. I only ask because a big age difference might make meeting you impratical :p. Not that it'll probably happen anyway but hey.
