This is unconfirmed, but this rumor has been flying around for quite some time. I for one, welcome this change if true.

George Lucas actually states in one of the special features that they're planning on going through EP1 and replacing Yoda with the CG model. Go watch that long "making-of" documentary on the AOTC DVD.

Yes! That puppet was horrible. One of the few times i'd prefer CGI to replace a puppet. Also does this mean that a prequal trilogy DVD boxset is on the way sometime soon?

One of the latest set diaries said it was only a test for the ROTS Yoda model - so whether it'll be implemented in a future edition of TPM is yet to be confirmed. Also is such a change was made, they'd probably have to redo the AOTC Yoda model, whereas they made the model a combination of ESB and TPM Yodas. But its still a change that I welcome - I'd even risk watching TPM again to see how well they implemented it into the film. But after that I won't really care about TPM anymore.

The puppet was fine, it just didn't look too much like Yoda.

If by too much you mean it looked like Yoda's sex-crazed cousin Jeff.
