Hello.

I have heard about email scams, but this week I received my first one.

I go to this website http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk and its forum, where I'm registered as Kroko. That's where this one got my email address, or rather sent me email through.

My mother died when I was a baby and since then my father took me so special. Before the death of my father on January 2004 in a private hospital here in Abidjan he secretly called me on his bed side and told me that he has the sum of ten million, five hundred thousand United State Dollars. USD $10.5mleft in fixed / suspense account in one of the prime bank here in Abidjan ,that he used my name as his only son for the next of Kin in depositing of the fund. He also explained to me that it was because of this
wealth that he was poisoned by his business associates. That I should seek for a foreign partner in a country of my choice where i will transfer this money and use it for investment purpose such as real estate management or hotel management .
Dear, I am honourably seeking your assistance in the following ways:

Moreover, dear, i am willing to offer you 15% of the total sum as compensation for your effort/ input after the successful transfer of this fund into your nominated account overseas. Furthermore, you indicate your options towards assisting me as I believe that this transaction would be concluded within seven (7) days you signify interest to assist me. Dear Mr. Komo,

I give you my sincere condolences on the loss of your parents. I can relate as I recently lost some relatives myself. My wife could no longer withstand our financial debt, so she actually suffocated our son and golden retriever, Goldette, with a sleeping bag before slitting her own throat with the letter opener she left for me to open her suicide note with. It read "I'm sorry. By the way, you may have HIV." I am now alone, although the mailman sometimes comes in for a cup of coffee. Actually he doesn't, or that's what my psychiatrist tells me.

Anyway, your proposition offers me a way out of my monetary trouble, so I'd be a fool not to take advantage of it. I always did like Ivory Coast, and the South American culture in general.

Yours sincerely,
Brad Wurst

The following day (Thursday) I got his reply.

i will be expecting your quick response.

thanks and best regards.
John.

Okay, so he didn't buy into the Brad Wurst thing, probably because of my real name sitting right there beside my email address, plus I've probably put it in my nomorepanic forum profile as well. I assume he also knows what country I live in (the nomorepanic forums actually have your country's flag below every post).

His reply was a bit surprising as he didn't ask for money at this point. I'm wondering if he's actually just wanting my identity, so he can come to my country. This, however, begs the question: who the hell wants to come to Finland? I also can't figure out how he could pull off coming to Finland as Jani Tuominen, probably not speaking a word of Finnish.

Any thoughts? (They don't even have to be thoughts.)
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I figure that if all those things were real, I'd have made over a billion dollars by now.

They don't usually ask for money right off the bat.

I've got some nice oceanfront property near my house that I'd be willing to sell you real cheap.

It seems some of you assume I have actually thought he would send me money. I have not.

That's what I was thinking. Like I said, though, if he wants it so he can come to Finland, how could he pull that off? I know he would attach his photo to my identity, but I assume he doesn't speak Finnish. This combined with the probability of him being black (I assume he really is from the Ivory coast, like those Nigerian scammers are really Nigerian) should raise some suspicion among the customs officials.
