anyone going to see Serenity opening night in Memphis? if so, please let me know which theatre.
we've found one that's fairly close to us (i'm in Henderson... near Jackson... at school. long drive to the other side of memphis) and if anyone else is going to it that would rock ;)
(it's the Malco majestic 20 or something like that)

and anyone who's going to serenity... let us know (=
don't forget to wear a brown coat!

I live northwest of Little Rock, but I'm not about to drive to Memphis to see Serenity. It looks good, but not that good.

DUde, guys, this is the guy who WROTE ALIEN: RESSURECTION. How can this movie be good?
I can't think of anything to put here right now.
2005-09-25, 8:32 PM #9
Come on, Ressurection wasn't THAT bad. At least, not that bad for a revival of a franchise for the sole purpose of milking just a little more money out of the hardcore fans. But Firefly rocked, so I don't see how this is even comparable to Ressurection.

The Sci-Fi channel is running the first ten episodes of Firefly, tomorrow (Tuesday). I'll be rollin' the VCR to catch those and see what the hubub is about.

So whenever you see the preview and it says "Joss Whedon's view of the future" what was Alien Ressurection? His bastardization?
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

No, the was his "molestation of the future". :em321:

I'm doing a Firefly marathon in a day or two before Serenity opens, then I'll catch the movie somtime this weekend. I can't freaking wait.

Come on, for what he had to incorporate into Ressurection, it wasn't that bad. Let's see YOU revive Ripley from complete incineration and set up an Alien infestation of Earth and still make it relatively entertaining.

Thats the thing, you don't *HAVE* to have Ripley. You could go a different route. OR YOU COULD LET IT DIE BECAUSE PART THREE SUCKED AND IT SHOULD STAY DEAD. Only *ONE* good thing came out of Alien: Ressurection, the underwater swim scene to see them moving. The rest was pure garbage, start to finish. The entire movie was anti-cloning propaganda as well. Dolly was just cloned, and oh crap, what, a #8 on her arm? Wow look, a room with 1-7 that is unlocked and easily accessable. Oh, look, deformed clones. Cloning is bad.

Odds are though I'll see this movie, some friends will drag me to it. Still looks dumb.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

If you'd ever seen Firefly, you'd never have made your last statement. Watch the show then see Serenity and you'll wonder why the hell you hadn't seen it yet.

it's well worth it.

For the record, I've done my research (being a firefly fan) and from what I can tell, Joss Wheadon doesn't even like Alien:Resurrection.

He had a hand in writing it, but the way the movie was handled wasn't the way he wanted to do it.

and also, Firefly is Joss Wheadon's dream/baby/vision. This is something I think he loves more than Buffy and Angel. It shows, his dedication and effort into this show pays off.

Even if he does watch the show and like it, he would never admit it.
