Internet Provider Woes

Hrm, I'm mad now, and this is why:

See, we just got done moving into our new house (which is the town just 5km (around 2 miles for you un-metric people) from where I used to be)
last thursday, and we had done all calls to the phone company (which is also my ADSL provider) to inform them of these changes. They said both services would be tranfered without any problem. Works for the moment, but get this...

See, the company calls us friday morning, when we first slept in the new house, at 8am, with these news for us: "Sorry but we don't provide ADSL internet in your new town."

...Right, so far doesn't seem like a big deal, change providers and we're set, that's fine, but this is where it irked me.

Our provider had an "offer" to buy their ADSL modem, 120$, and pay it over the months. In April, the modem was mine, paid with my money, because I was expecting to stay with this ISP for a long time. So now I'm stuck with a useless ADSL modem, because my new ISP is a Cable provider.

So that's 120 ****ing bucks down the drain for nothing, Thank you very much Telus .Inc

~rages~

Cox IS horrible. Try Comcast, unless they're cable only. South-Western Bell (or its equivalent) maybe?

I don't know anything about comcasts etc. but that sucks. A lot. Kinda reminds me of my fights against the DSL provider here for 2 years to finally get a DSL. Well, I finally got it so...

Never give up? I don't know. You could always do something to pwn them all. Gah.

My DSL provider is verizon, and i've never had problems with them. My connection has been steady as a rock.

Any downtime that I've had has been a client side problem and was resolved by either rebooting or switching off the modem and switching it back on.

I have bellsouth.net DSL, never really had a problem with it. That is other then the fact that the 3.0/384 isn't out here in my area yet so I still have 1.5/256. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] Guess I can't complain too much though. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif]

Guess what? Yep, that's right. No, no, really, it's right. Think it's wrong? You're right, it's wrong. Know why? 'Cause it is

I got it under a special offer where I got it for $23 a month for 3 months or something like that. Since I was already pying $20 for s***ty MSN dialup, i figured I may as well pay a little more to set something infinitely better.

Woo and yay Telewest Blueyonder. Only 768kb/sec until they upgrade the cables.

Check for RoadRunner, that's usualy everywhere, since it's Time Warner. You can still get Road Runner without Time Warner Digital Cable.

It could always be worse...I pay $75 a month for a 26400 connection, and I live in the great US of A, where everyone that has broadband seems to be under the misconception that it's available everywhere. :/

And no, there isn't anything besides satellite that's offered, and since I play games online, that's not an option.

Nobody thinks that. It IS very popular though, and getting more popular by the month. Trust me, it's better than being anywhere else. Most other places don't even HAVE broadband.

No it isn't. I'm in orange county, and all I have to say is that it sucks COX.

Har har.

But it's deathly slow compared to average. Really god damn slow.
