A $65,000 car for a $360,000 diamond? If I find that diamond, I'm going to South America.

Hmm, let's see.

Can go to Monacco, find diamond, get car, sell car, use part to cover trip and rest to buy a more practical car...

Now if you don't find it, hmm... Sell your body in Monacco to cover the trip...

I'd find the diamond and sell it for full value on the black market.

They have cameras on almost every corner in Monaco

[hm, I hadn't read the article prior, so they don't know where the diamond actually is -> just scram with it]

Why was there a $360,000 diamond on the front of a race car in the first place!?!?

Agreed.. Even if it was part of a sponsorship thing, why the heck would you put a $360,000 diamond on a Car DURING a race?

I mean its not like crashes are unheard of in racing, I think any one could of guessed something like this could/might of happened..

Besides if it's so small where they can't find it, why bother putting on the car, its not like the people could see it..

It was a publicity stunt, and every news network the world over has carried a story on it. You do the maths.

So they MEANT to crash the car and lose the diamond? Having a diamond on a car with nothing else happen might have gotten a mention in the "Odd Spot" but I don't think it would have gotten all that much publicity.

Yeah, as far as advertising goes, $360,000 isn't an extravangant figure for a lot of people.

...Especially for one of the largest diamond brokers in the world.

And Matt, there was actually a story about the diamond noses in the Herald Sun, on the Channel 9 news during the second segment, and in the ABC news sports report a few days before the race.

Think about it, Monte Carlo, if a resident found the diamond.. I don't think they'll really care to have another "beater car".. they'd probably just turn it in and not accept the reward.
