And she's a republican judge. No shock there.

Whats hilarious is it's Sherman, Texas. Sherman is home to some of the easiest girls in Texas, that girl has probably already broken the law 6 times since the ruling.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Your sex life isn't any judge's business. period. In the ideal world the ruling wouldn't stand and the 'judge' would lose her job.

Wow. That's insane.

What's the legal age of concent over there? Not that it really has any bearing, how are they going enforce it anyway?

17 years in Texas is the offical age of consent.

Some argue its also 3 years over. So she can't be with a 21 year old, but she can be with a 16 year old or 20 year old.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I'm pretty sure it was legal in nazi Germany or Soviet Russia... But anything other than that seems dubious.

I don't believe it is. The Judge definitely has issues, like the fact that she's probably never gotten any.

I think the judges can inflict unorthodox punishments. For instance, One judge make this little brat take her Mom out to dinner after doing something (I forget what) to her Mom, and bringing it into the court. And I think some hacker got banned from computers.

Anyway, the ruling does make sense. Using some kinds of drugs can give you HIV. She's lucky too, she could have gotten into real trouble.

That's true and it does make sense. It's like banning some murderer from using firearms, which also makes sense.

Question. Two people are dating: A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old. They have sex. They each age one year, still dating (now 17 and 18). If they do it again, is it illegal this time?

I think the general belief that would apply to that is that it's ok for two minors at the age of consent to have sex (though frowned :( upon) but it's not ok for an adult to have sex with a minor, even if he/she is past the age of consent. 18/17 would probably fly in some places, but higher than that probably make no one even consider the age of consent.

Just so you know, everyone and his brother sleeping around hurts socity. Kids grow up much better when they have both a mother and a father careing for them until adulthood.

No. Age of consent is 17 in Texas. A 17 year old can engage in sexual acts with either an 18 year old or 16 year old. Pretty much when I was 16, I could have had sex with both at once.

I know that in both Texas (where I reside) and Illinois (where I go to school), there's a three-year difference exception to the age of consent laws.

Actually, in most states, it's illegal to have sex as a minor, so therefore they would be breaking the law in the first place.

While I agree with the judge, I don't think this girl should be having sex (Or using drugs, or whatever), this is no spot for the judicial system to get even close to involved in.

Holy crap, I took part of the survey and the votes are split right down the middle!
50% think the judge went over the line and 50% think otherwise.
I really wasn't expecting so many to agree with the judges ruling.
