You're probably a Linkin Park fan.

In which case your opinion on anything doesn't matter.

Go hate your parents or something.

I enjoy Linkin Park despite how angsty they are. The music sounds good and the lyrics are easy to sing along with. I think that 90% of you are closet LP fans.

I could care less about the people in the band. They can be child molestors as long as they produce some catchy tunes. It would be nice if they weren't, but I wouldn't know the difference by listening to them.

That's just it...linkin park is far from catchy. That one guy's voice makes me want to rip off the next emo kid's face that I see, and that pseudorapper is just horrible.

Hating linkin park doesn't make you a music snob. It makes you hate whiny voiced men and poor rappers.

I enjoy the guy rapping in Linkin Park more than I enjoy rap itself. At least he tends to have a consistant message, regardless of how angsty. Linkin Parks worst stuff is the stuff they do with other rap artists and musicians.

Uh...what? So 50 cent is enjoyable because he has a consistent message of "BEAT A NIGGA KILL A HO"? And I beg to differ--the only song I can really stand is the one they did with the X-Ecutioners.

Do you have to practice at that kind of exaggeration or does it come naturally?

It's not exagerration. It's me asking him a question. Saying that a band is respectable because it keeps a consistent message is...yeah. It's pretty stupid, because that's what most bands do.

I'm referring to the inability of many rappers to convey a consistent message in a song. I've listened to rap my entire life and the subject changes so drastically, even within a song, that there doesn't seem to be any real consistency, other than the fact that it rhymes. The guy in Linkin Park, however, is able to maintain a consistent, yet angsty message throughout most, if not all of their songs. Linkin Park is good music to sing along to, because of their simple lyrics regarding break-up frustration, and the fact that the music itself, while often overly simplistic, is quite catchy.

And 50-Cent, god bless his heart, is often very inconsistent, which was my point. However, I also get your point, and don't think that consistency is the only factor that makes a good song, it's just something that I find very irritating when listening to rap music, which 90% about the lyrics.

most gangster rappers keep the same message

"life on the streets is harsh and illigal"

lots of modern rappers keep the same message

"i am rich, it is great"

just because they dont spell it out doesnt mean its not there.
2005-10-08, 3:55 PM #37
You forgot the other message of today's rappers:

"I am so rich and cool and I have *****es and pools"

I know of tons of rappers that keep consistency throughout the song. They just use metaphors along with other literary devices that make it hard to understand unless you look at the whole picture and dwell a bit.
