heh, 'brain cannot process "of"'. That's a new one.

I've seen that several times before, but not worded to look like an annoying chain letter.
It's more that you're so used to seeing the word 'of' that you don't think about it. It's not like 'of' is hard-wired into your brain from birth. It'd be the same with words like 'an' or 'and' I imagine

Also I wonder if the line length has anything to do with it, considering how some words are cut and wrap to the next line..

I got six. It's pretty easy when you've seen it a dozen times and learnt the technique.

The 'technique' is to look for the F's. plain and simple. Just look at each individual letter.

The interesting test would be to see if you could get the number of Fs correct and actually read the sentence and gather its meaning at the same time.

I started counting missing the ofs, and then i realised.. hm i bet theres something funny about this. So i went back and went over every single word individually and found 6 ^^

I can see how it would be easy to get less than he six that are there. When I took my speed reading class years ago, thy told us to skip over small words ike "of", "an", etc.

The trick is not to lip the words in your head. If you do, you're likely to skip the F's on the word "of" because it sounds like a V. For you people who are trying to sound intelligent because "you don't get it", there it is explained for you.

Ah, that would explain why I got 6. I diddnt actually read the passage, I just looked at all the letters counting F's.

What's it say? Many people will willingly skim over certain words or block them out if they think they know what it means (i.e. because it's part of a saying in this case) - take a look - did you spot both 'the's'

The first time I skimmed over it because it was in caps/bold I glanced at it before I read the rest of the post and I diddnt see the second The, but when I actually read it I saw it although that's probably only because you said "tell me what this says" implying that there was something wrong with it. I started counting the F's and when I was just past the first two of's I realized and went back.

There's another one that's fun. If, out of the blue, you tell someone to think of a vegetable, the most common answer is supposed to be"carrot". Similarly, if you ask them for a color and a tool (I don't know why) the most common answer is supposedly "red" and "hammer"

Yeah, scientists say that you can read entire words that are misspelled (sp?) with full comprehension, as long as the first and last letters are in the right spot, and all the letters of the word are between the first and last letters.

Or something like that.

Edit: Didn't bother to read the actual sentence, just knew it was something like that.
