A good buy for laptop users...

I just today bought a heat sink pad from the tech store at school... it's basically a giant heat sink with two fans underneath it that suck the heat of your laptop... I think it's a great idea considering how much the Mobile Pentium 4 heats up to... (about 75C) and now the computer won't have to slow down the proccessor to keep it from... well basically melting on me...

Btw I'm new to the forums... so I'll get my hi's out of the way. Hi.

I thought laptops were supposed to be excessively hot to solve the overpopulation problem (or was it the nerdpopulation problem..?).

Well I don't suggest you put them in your lap... but yeah I get burned when I touch the thing after running a DVD... so I thought it might be time to do something about the excessive heat... it's preforming alittle better now that things are alittle cooler... I'm trying it out in the caf...

This might be a good idea. My old Dell laptop burns like hell. And my iBook seems to burn up too. Not good for electronics.

Get a better laptop then.

I have an AMD64 3200+, and it has 3 fans onboard.

The bottom of the laptop rarely exceeds room temperature, even while playing FFXI or HL2.

I have an AMD64 3200+ as well and I never get burned, even when I'm running an intense program.

Countdown to some horribly unoriginal sod posting something about 'soul stealing' and some obsolete rambling out the "MBS".

I have a 66mhz grayscale VGA one you can have Echoman. It runs MS-DOS 6.22! I even loaded Dark Forces onto it, one floppy at a time!

How much was the heat sink pad, DJ Insaneo?

It was 57 bucks Canadian... not that bad for how well it has been working... it doesn't run hot at all anymore.

I'm quite skeptical of this claim...
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I was thinking of picking one of these up. Frequently when I play BF2 the laptop gets really hot and the fan goes into supernoisy mode to try to cool it down, and in the process the game becomes unplayable for like 30 seconds.

I was talking about this to a friend and they said that wouldn't help the least bit with things slowing down. So is he just an idiot and will this help my problem? Or what.

He's probably an idiot considering it'd draw heat away, which is what's making your problem.
