Am I the only person that plays other games with instrumental music? I recently ripped the music out of MotS and am playing it to NWN. I do some Gladiator music too. I used to do actual songs by bands, but sometimes I can't have the singing part of them.

I don't know, I usually listen to music other than the game music, but not always instrumental... just whatever best fits the mood I want to be in whilst playing the game I guess. Never play an ominous game late at night whilst listening to Fantomas, it can scar you.

I can listen to music with some games, but not all. Usually never during single player. I always have something playing when I'm in UT2k4 though.

I just listen to my whole playlist when playing games, i don't have specific tastes. but it is fun to be playing something like tribes when flex's music or 'Battle without Honor or Humanity' start up [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

If a game has its own music i'll listen to that. Single player is almost always better with the original/no music since the way it was designed was made to create atmosphere but for stuff like CS I cant play without some decent music in the background.

I like hearing final fantasy music.. all the time, especially while playing final fantasy XI, playing a song from FFXI while playing FFXI is always fun ^^. When Im playing an FPS, Ill listen to some stuff by the Clash, or some wierd japanese pop (Really up-tempo stuff, like the POLYSICS)

I sometimes listen to songs other than the game music. Sometimes... I've stopped now a days. Recently I listened to a loop I made of the Treasure Planet end credit music while playing a single player level using a Mod in progress by me (name is MAD mod, not that you're interested). Somehow, when I do some actions, it just so happens to work with the music.

Playing Classical music when playing WW2 games seems so smoothing for me.

I should REALLY create a series of playlists for games. It sometimes screws up the mood when suddenly a beautiful instrumental cello piece starts playing during a hectic jedi battle, or when my group of adventurers walk in a beautiful grove and Devin Townsend's speed metal song strikes the speakers like a million volts....

Klaus Badelt, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Howard Shore...

then classics like Wagner, Mozart, Strauss.... but these last ones aren't so good for games (except Ride of the Valkryies of course [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif])

Then some matrix music for action packed games... and I'm getting the BoB soundtrack which will undoubtedly be used during Call of Duty, BF1942:various expansions... etc

CoD has very good music in and of itself.

Klaus Badelt is the frelling man. PotC soundtrack wasn't even nomminated [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] . It isn't just a rehash of Gladiator, don't make me explain this again. But yeah, Howard Shore is the other MAN. Conerning Hobbits, Gondor Theme PWN. Who can forget the Steward of Gondor, that song > *

I usually prefer to keep the game's original music. Painkiller being a most awesome example. Danzig all the way my friend.

I like utilizing your own playlists in games, such as Vice City, thought I haven't really utilized it in Vice City, as VCPR amuses me. That, and VRock plays good stuff.

well if you count the gunfire and sounds of virtual people dying virtual deaths and their virtual bodies landing on the virtual ground... it's not silence

i usually keep music low or off... especially in games like tribes... play it enough without the music and you will be able to hear spinfusor discs when they get close... though usually it's too close to dodge it

As far as when I play Clone campaigns? Classical sometimes.

JA? Some kind of fantasy battle music, or techno / upbeat stuff, occasionaly some Jpop even. And flexy's stuff! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

UT2k4..Mmm, That games music is extreamly badass. A great mix of the epic elements of soundtrack and the beat and action elements of techno.

Decent II / Decent II: Vertigo missions had some good techno / techno rock.

I usually listen the music what the game has. If I don't, it's not hard to believe what I usually listen along with John Williams.

As a rule, my winamp is never, ever closed. I have the Global Hotkeys enabled, which allows me to change songs and play/pause, in midgame. I also use my second monitor (which is nearly useless in fullscreen games) to display my playlist.

I usually listen to music on any multiplayer game, and on games that have no story or plot. Otherwise, I listen to ingame music, because it fits the mood much better. (Such as Unreal 2, or Riven.)

I made an 'Action' playlist in Windows Media player that consists of some of the following Soundtracks/Game's Music: Hyperblade, The Italian Job, Bourne Identity, Half-Life, Opposing Force.
This works well with nearly any action game, but is awesome for any JA/JO ladder maps.
