No new monitor (17" CRT remains)

Ouch on that FX 5200. Go for a Radeon 9600 Pro if you're looking for a low priced card that can run todays games.

hold off, build your own, spend 500 dollars on the next ATi card (supports Pixel Shader 3.0) and get the same exact stuff (Athlon 64 if you wanna be a badass)

clarifications:

I am not paying a dime for this computer, my dad is... it is to be a 'family computer' (ie: mine and my brothers)

secondly... shieeet i thought something was bad about that card i just couldn't remember >_< oh god. I'm never going to convince anyone to upgrade it...

anyway, building my own would be fine, except it's not 'mine' per se... so....

yah... i'll save up for a new card... plus i can split the cost w/ my little bro (who, since he never buys anything, has about 300 bucks lying around -_-)
