Glyde Bane posted in the game forums about starting up the Massassi guild again on Smolderthorn. I'm in for it, if people will actually log on every once in awhile :p

Not quite WoW but since the NDA has been lifted...

It aint easy being bad, but it sure is fun.

From left to right we have Clark, Chavez, Tabeous, and Schofield. Tabeous is my level 12 Mastermind, the other 3 are my mercenary minions. They do my evil bidding.

The addition of the Mastermind class has made me want to buy City of Villains. Having gun-for-hire killing machine pets is fun. Plus you get a lot of them, by level 28 Tabeous should have 6 mercenaries following him around.

It doesnt have to be mercenaries, either. My friend has a robotics Mastermind and you can also control undead or ninjas. Ninjas are fun.

Where are your whips and chains? Those 'minions' you call them won't whip themselves.

Damnit, I killed it and I want it that way. :p

OMg.. I need CoV now. So Spork, what's the deal with Cov? Is it an expansion you have to pay for? And is there PVP like they said there was going to be?

It's a stand-alone game. You can buy a subscription for just CoH or just CoV, but if you have both games you only have to pay 1 subscription fee.

CoV has completely different zones than CoH which are all-new. There is PvP in a few contested zones which both sides can access, but my beta character isnt a high enough level to try it out yet. I've heard it's not bad, but Masterminds are extremely underpowered (kill the boss and the pets disapear too).

Was on a team today with 6 other Masterminds. Got a little crowded, but the damage being handed out was something to behold

There's a bunch of mercenaries up the front, a whole heap of robots, and some undead at the back left.

Sadly, I'm out a job and struggling in uni, so I cancelled my WoW subscription back at the beginning of September. I miss it dearly...

I've had offers to buy the account (any epics make people drool), and I could probably get a hefty amount of money for it, but I haven't the heart. If the chance comes to play again, I want to begin where I left off.

We're trying to take out Ragnaros in MC currently, and we killed onyxia for the first time last weekend. I like my guild

Where are you at with the Rag fight? Building up to and downing that bastage is a ton of fun. Dropping him is a rush, and while I wasn't there for any of our BWL kills, some of the fights are fun to play.

I'm thinking of picking up this game.
Considering in about 7 months I start my adult life with a real job, I'm perfectly happy spending the next 7 months being completely anti social sitting in my room playing games. :p

Massassi willing to help a low level noob get a quick jump start? We all know how starting new on these games sucks for the initial levels before getting decent equipment and skills.

And who wants dibs on inviting me if I do decide to sign up? I get free 10 days and you get a free month.
And considering I don't plan on going in the direction of the computer store till Friday, can you still download the game like the beta?

I'm WILLING to start playing on another server just for Massassi.

Uh, I actually don't know, I haven't been to MC for Rag in the last 2 weeks because of my social life But I do know that we just started him, and that our first goal is to get to the sons with everyone alive.

Spork, you *******, you made me resubscribe to CoH. I like it *so* much better than WoW. It's much faster paced, more contemporary, better for casual players, and, well, fun. And now I'm going to have to buy CoV next week. I soooooo hope they didn't delete my level 26 MA/SR scrapper! That dude was so much fun! I like him better than any defender/controller/blaster/tanker I've ever tried.

What server do you play on?

I play on Pinnacle, but it seems like not many other people play there. I wish I could port my guy to one of the other more popular servers.

The new archery set is NEATO TORPEDO. I have a defender now, with Trick Arrow and Archery, and I LOVE HIM TO DEATH. I can actually solo with him, which is a freaking BLAST! I never realized how fun De-buffs could be!

I think I play on Justice, but I'm not sure, I bought a game card today but I won't be able to log on until tonight. Basically I forgot which server my guy is on. Heck, it might be though that they deleted him because it's been a while..

Yeah, Issue 5 added some new power sets, but not for every archtype.

Sonic Attacks (Blaster Primary and Defender Secondary)
Sonic Resonance (Defender Primary and Controller Secondary)
Archery (Blaster Primary and Defender Secondary)
Trick Arrow (Defender Primary and Controller Secondary)
Electric Mastery (Blaster Ancillary Power Set)


Thats the list I got from the updates page on COH.com

I haven't tried any of the other stuff, only Archery and Trick Arrow. WHICH ROCK.

They're adding more and more stuff all the time, it seems. Issue 6 comes out soon, which adds all the NEATO TORPEDO STUFF from COV to COH. (Like SG base building and the likes) However, I think you only get access to those features if you have both games.

I could never get into an MMO, or even an RPG for the amount of things you're required to memorize by other players to avoid looking like a noob.

General opinion is that Trick Arrow actually sucks compared to other sets, but yeah, Archery is just plain cool.

Ninja Masterminds get Archery. And Ninjas.

There's a bunch of other new power sets in CoV and a whole heap of changes. Brutes (Tankers) are more about damage and less about defence. Stalkers (Scrappers) are all about stealth, they're built around Assassin's Strike which must be performed coming out of Hide (their version of stealth) and does crazy damage. Dominators (Controllers) now have blaster powers as secondaries and with pets do crazy damage. There's also a new Dominator power set: Plants. Corruptors (Blasters) get Defender powersets as secondaries, but no Empathy. Villains do not have a specific healing powerset like Empath. Being a Blaster with Kinetics as a secondary is fun, however they have had their damage toned down quite a lot. Corrupters get Scourge, a crit hit which is more likely to hit the less health the enemy has. They also get a totally new power set: Thermal, which has some very funky visual effects.

Deadman man plays (or use to..havent seen him on there for awhile) on this server too.
It is a PvP server and I am a GM of a 80 person family style guild if anyone wants in..

General opinion is usually formed by just a few jerks that play on a power set for a few hours and decide it sucks.

It's seriously hella fun to use. By the time I get done shooting AOE debuff arrows, the tank and scrappers can just mop up.

Also, I can't wait for Oil slick arrow + FIRE ARROW.

Well, ever since I renewed my subscription earlier this month, I decided to forsake the alliance and started a bunch of horde characters. The main reason is because the alliance (at least on the Uther server) absolutely SUCK at battlegrounds (too many morons don't know how to play their class or how to coordinate attacks) and because the end game is boring as hell. Here are my characters (I have 8 of them and yes, I do need a girlfriend).
