I used to believe that we must fight the future, lest change come without our consent. I was wrong. The truth is that we must embrace the future, for only with change can we remain the same.

I can't give any solution, but doesn't those letters indicate that it has something to do with music/frequencies? The letters are four chromatic scales..

If these are frequencies of notes, they are *way* off. Try this.

------------------
Genesis 22:2-5 - And God said unto Abraham "You must kill your son, Isaac." And Abraham said "What? I can't hear you! You'll have to speak into the microphone." And God said "Check, check, check, check. Jerry, can you pull the high end out. I'm getting some hiss up here."

Are you sure about all of your numbers?

Towards the beginning it does look like music frequencies (but not on the Hertz scale). Notes an octave apart (like C-0 and C-1) are in a ratio of 1:2. And in theory (with music) you should multiply each frequency by the twelfth root of two to get the next one, which looks pretty close to your numbers around C-1, but it gets further and further off track.

Actually, it's under 20 Hz. Haven't you ever heard of a contrabass? It works below the audible range, so you feel the music rather than hear it.

Does this forumula work with regular tuning? Modern tuning methods are actually comprimised. In older days, a piano was tuned to a specific key, but would sound horrible if played in other keys. Using a true tuning like that, there is actually a difference between B# and Cb, and E# & Fb.
Just curious.

Well, you see, it's for the ChangeSoundPitch(); COG verb. Forgot to mention that... So, in other words, this would be way off... Hope people can help now...

DogSRoOL, I was under the impression that that formula is what's currently used to tune pianos, to correct the older problem of only being able to play in a couple keys. This way, each half step sounds the same as any other, so all keys should sound alright.

With instruments like violins, where pitches aren't fixed, you usually alter some pitches a bit depending on the context. So in that case, it's more a question of musical taste than a formula.

I could be wrong about the piano tuning, though.

Or this:

or one of these:

Anyway, back to the cog, I can't seem to remember how changing pitch works. All I remember is that the current pitch is one (I think).

Ok...I think that is right...according to the pattern I saw. May want to double-check my figures...

Hey, what kind of incompetent creature do you take me for, all I said was that the letters are chromatic scales [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]
