Good Co-op games.
2005-10-25, 12:13 PM #1
Just wanted to know if anyone could reccomend some good co-op games or co-op mods for certain games. Apart from RPG's, Sven Co-op for HL, and Jk Co-op, is there any other game would be good for 2-8 players cooperative play?

Oh, and pc-only preferably.

Other than that, I really can't think of anything.

The original Descent, to this day, has the best coop. Period.

Do you need a joystick for the first one? And can you still find it? Classic series yes, I have #3 on floppies.

Nope, but that game prompted me to buy one because it's a lot more fun with one. As for finding it.. Not really, but I'm sure you could find it on ebay.

System Shock 2 has good Co-op, at least for the first two thirds of the game. It gets a bit Meh around the rickenbaker and the Many... Plus, its not all that stable.

Don't waste your money. We had a game night with a bunch of buddies -- playing with 4 players we beat it in 4 hours.

Well, if you want some coop with people right next to you, you could play some Battlefront or Lord of the Rings: Return of the King on PS2.

I know you said PC games, but these are pretty fun PS2 co-op games. Try 'em out!
Very funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

Quake 1 and 2, Serious Sam:FE, Serious Sam:SE, Serious Sam 2, there's mods for FarCry, System Shock 2, Deus Ex has mods (though they suck I hear).

You may not like this, but JA has somewhat of a decent coop thing. The ojp mod fixes a lot of the scripting and ai bugs so with the ojp mod coop should be even better.

Pretty much the only MP game I play regularly is Operation Flashpoint. And always COOP. It's a realistic first person war simulation game.

The game, containing both expansions, is so cheap nowadays that they are practically handing them out at shops, if you consider the worth of this game. And there's A TON of custom addons, missions, mods, and stuff made for this game.

Rainbow 6 you can play through the storyline, do the hostage missions, stealth missions.

Baldurs Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, although they are loooong.

Total Annihiliation, Red Alert, Dune 2000, Warcraft 2, Dawn of War, Age of Empires 2, Starcraft, Dark Reign, Age of Mythology, R6: Rogue Spear, R6:Raven Shield and Battlefield 1942 can all be played against the AI, but not the campaigns.

Dune Emperor is supposedly co-op even for the storyline campaign, but I lost 3 of my discs...

Yes it is!

You and a squad (from a partner to up to 20 people) face another squad. So put that in your pipe and smoke it! MWAH!

I don't know if it can be a good game, if you must put it in a pipe and smoke it. You realise not all people want to start smoking just to play some game. There are plenty of good games available without such a requirement.

I always thought coop had the requirement of being able to play with friends against computer controlled enemies. Usually following some storyline - no matter how weak, though.

You can get bots for Enemy Territory, if you're on about that. I should really stop plugging ET.. though it is fantastic.

The very best co-op game I've ever played was simply Ultimate Doom. (Doom 1 and Doom 2 for windows.) It was simply fantastic and I was very sad when Doom 3 came out without co-op. Then again, I'm always very sad when a game I love doesn't have co-op.

There's a DooM 3 co-op mod for the PC version, and the XBox version has Co-Op
