So I pay $0.62 to mail a 1oz first class mail parcel with delivery confirmation package to one of my customers on the 17th. I always use paypal pre-paid shipping labels, so I pack, pay, print, and mail all my parcels without leaving home. It gets all the way to their local post office, where they determine that it is under the minimum thickness for a non-machinable first class parcel with delivery confirmation. It missed the mark by LESS THAT 1/4 OF AN INCH.
They reject it, take the time to put it in a whole other 13"x10" envelope, include a 3 page packet copy of the USPS mailing terms in which they took the time to manually highlight the portion I violated, and also wrote me a letter explaining the violations.
I also had to re-pack it, (wasting my supplies), and pay an additional $3.85 to re-mail it back to the customer via Priority Mail, I could not re-mail it first class because that option is only available once-per-purchase, and I already used that up with the firs mailing.
I am extremely dissapointed at the time, effort, and supplies they put into rejecting this package that was too thin by less than 1/4 of an inch. I dont even get how something can be too thin, wouldnt that save them cargo space anyway?? Later I asked my local post office workers about it, and they actually told me that if I place a SPACER within the package, TO MAKE IT THICKER FOR THEM, it would be legit. Can you believe that? Either way, its NON MACHINABLE so what the hells the difference? I guess they win anyway because they got $4.47 from me to deliver a 1oz package in over 3 weeks time.
Not to mention the customer, while I bull**** back and forth with the USPS they are sitting and waiting for the item which they legitimatly paid for weeks prior.
Technically, they are right and I did violate the terms, but my god, way to be dicks about it.
