Zombie drowning boy:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/West/05/28/near.drowning.ap/index.html

but seriously, the kid is going to have some brain damage and what not from being submerged for 30 minutes. It is a miracle though that he was alive, although some sick part of me wanted to see him get to the funeral home and the mortician about to embalm him before realizing he was alive.

He's probably gonna spend the rest of his life in a coma or with some terrible mental defiency. Personally, I'd rather be dead.

People can stay alive without oxygen for a long time if they are cooled down. Probably that's what happened, when he fell into the canal.

People are too far gone at 1 hour. 30 minutes is fine. If it's cold water, 30 minutes is no problem at all. Trust me, I've been trapped under the ice for 40 minutes. Coma for 3 days. I love MN.

Not really, at all. The colder the water, the better. Slows down motabolism, which requires less blood flow and nuetrition to the brain and other vital organs. 1 Hour and you've got too many brain issues to be worth saving with haste. 1/2 an hour is when the brain starts to lose normality. That is, in normal conditions. The colder, the better.

The kid should have waited for his funeral ceremony. Then, he could spring up and suprise everyone.

I used to believe that we must fight the future, lest change come without our consent. I was wrong. The truth is that we must embrace the future, for only with change can we remain the same.

That's because a) they were not saved within an hour, closer to two (those that couldn't get lifeboats) and 2) when they lost consciousness, they didn't float and were picked up. thier clothes and such weighed them down and caused them to sink, and so had no chance for recovery,
