ROFL @ candy corn bush

And geez dude, can't you lay off Escaflowne for like... one game?
2005-10-30, 9:17 AM #4
People still play that game?

Of course, Guild Wars is really popular. Sure, it's not WoW, but it also has no monthly fee which is a huge draw.

Yes, yes they do.

You also apparently still make inane posts.

Cool pics.

I'd play Guild Wars if it wasn't fantasy themed. :(
2005-10-30, 10:48 AM #9
I'm thinking about buying it, plus sides? down sides? No mention of fees in either.

I'd play guild wars if I could use more than 5% of my powers at any given time..

But dude, that's the whole point of the game.
You get a wide range of skills and are supposed to choose the best combination of them.
You have to strategise.
If you could just use any of the skills you bought, it would suck.

Everything sounds good, is guild wars ... REALLY multiplayer or just "pretend" half the time? I hear there's bits where they decide you don't all play in the same world and things. I don't know. But is it worth buying? I mean... well.. in your eyes?

2005-10-30, 11:46 AM #13
Depends on what you mean by pretend.
It's muliplayer similar to how diablo 2 is multiplayer. Except instead of looking at a list of servers you group with people in the town then start.

Perhaps a better way of explaining it (if you've played WoW) is that every mission is like a WoW instance dungeon.

I found guild wars to be a lot of fun. Having only 8 active skills at a time forces you to think carefully about your character.
In my eyes it was definitely worth buying.

Holy crap I just remembered I have this game.

Too bad I just bought WoW.

Hrm .. I wonder where I put my cds for it?

lol. the ship sank in Lion's Arch, eh? Maybe some of us can meet up tomorrow on the GW server, and party it up Massassi style :D.

I'd recommend Lion's Arch though. Droknar's Forge is just too bloody cold :(.

Amazingly, it's Halloween everywhere, not just Guild Wars. :p

Those candy corn bushes are actually the Mad Kings Guards. The reason the town is transformed is because the Mad King did it. The Mad King will return at midnight! I can't wait!

Its a real shame that there's none of this in Ascalon or pre-searing Ascalong (especially as i'm building a new character). Ok, everyone write down your names in GW on the thread so we can find eachother in the game. I'm Imdar the Soulfang (or, if you want to reach my new character, Imdar The Azure)

I just started playing two nights ago after about 2 months of being away too. I'm nowhere near that far. Last I got to was shiverpeaks. :(

Though I did get the Witche's Brew, Absinthe etc. Fun stuff there.

I took so many pictures in-game :-)
I love the GW development team, they are awsome. This reminds me of what they used to do at the end of beta weekends.

Can we do a higher district, say like 123 or something because the low districts are extremely hard to get into, especially around 9.

Wtf? There... there's a shadow... within a shadow. I can understand such a thing happening with multiple light sources, but the sun is the only light source in the picture, as you can easily tell from the angle of the shadows. It defies logic. Unless the mountain is transluscent, that shouldn't be happening.

Guild Wars automatically loses.

If the other object creating the shadow is close to the surface, it can cast a darker shadow.

That was great. We ended up in Dist 12 though (i didn't have time to go back to the forum as i was running someone to Lion's Arch). I joined in the partying and laughing as the Mad King slayed half his audience. Victor was the only other one i saw. Where did the rest of you end up?
