IMO, they are not even going to have a fan base if they keep this up. The graphics engine is already outdated, and advanced 'living' AI is now in Oblivion (which also seems to be more capable) so one of its main selling points won't even be that special anymore. I'm still going to get it if its good (it should be, the videos are awesome) but this is getting rediculous.

So what? HL2 got a year of delay, too, yet it was received as one of the best games ever made.

The advanced "living" AI has been in Oblivion for as long as anyone has known about Oblivion, ie well over a year, so it's hardly a new development.

I didn't mean it like that, I worded it wrong. I meant that Oblivion has advanced AI and its being released in Nov/Dec.

This game has been delayed MANY times, and has had a lot of release dates which all have been cancelled. If you read up on the history of STALKER, you'll understand what I mean.

Eh, just give 'em time. Like gothicX said, HL2 was a year late. It's no biggie, so long as it doesn't pull a DNF on us. I want it. :(
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Stalker is like 12 years late.

And DNF is easily 20 years late.

I'm honestly surprised they're still delaying it, though I can understand why I guess. Wish I was still testing it :(

As for the graphics engine being outdated, it was better than HL2 last I saw it (lighting was far superior, though HDR might have something to say about that). Since that was almost a year ago, I don't doubt they've incorporated newer technologies.

The STALKER 2002 alpha screenshots are still quite outstanding. The artwork is fantastic enough to make up for an outdated graphics engine.

Also, the problem here is that STALKER has already been delayed over a year. It was supposed to come out in 2004.

I gave up on this ages ago. They'll probably end up scrapping it.

The game quality will overcome its potentially outdated graphics. More people can just max out the settings and enjoy.

I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

I very much doubt it, Cavey. The living AI was working last I played, although it was sans any serious inventory system, you could otherwise play the game to all extents and purposes (in the given areas) and there were working anomalies, AI was working (AI soldiers worked together, etc) and multiplayer "deathmatch" (Deathmatch, where you bought your weapons with money gained from kills) was working.

The living AI on every square kilometer of playing area is probably whats causing the delays. Given the detail put into the world itself, I can well understand how difficult it would be to code simple AI to deal with it, let alone the living AI in Stalker.
