What's Divali about?
I'll be going to some Dia de los Muertos (Nov1-Nov2) celebrations/activities in the next few days. I can't go visit the graves I want to (they're cross country and I'm broke) but I'll celebrate the lives of my aunt, grandmother, et al who have died. I've been participating in it since like 1996 or so, it feels better for me than Halloween (as I did it as a kid anyway, no meanings just costume/candy).
Not that the costumes aren't fun; this year one of my friends made a good "butterfly stabbed with knitting needles," though a couple people thought she was the angel of death. Pedestrians! The angel of death does not have antennae (generally).
