Well it has been release on www.fileplanet.com and I'm in line for it right now. I was never a fan of the first and second one but the graphics in this one look stunning... hope it works well. Post your experience with it here if you care to download it.

Yeah but fileplanet servers are faster... oh well I suppose some download is better than no download at all.

don't just factor in the download speed/time also factor in the wait before the download starts and other servers are usually going to be faster except at those magical times when there is no wait but those are very rare

Joy! Euro-release coming up next week-ish too!

Eee. Hope they haven't dumbed it down for the third outing.

There had better be guards calling me taffer or it's no Thief.

I am very sad about some things.

Namely the distressing lacks of:
1- Spiders
2- Burricks
3- Swimming [!!]
4- Rope Arrows

Other than that.. looks delicious.

Well, if you try using fileplanet during the middle of the night, there are no wait lines. However, I'm not sure if many are willing to stay up at like 1:00 AM just to download a file, regardless of file size.

Yes, we need burricks and rope arrows.

Blame it on the XBox.

No rope arrows?!?

Lack of Burricks I care little less about. I always got kind of annoyed when you had to start sneaking past monsters and stuff. I've always enjoyed sneaking by humans more.

But no rope arrows?!?!

P.S. Warren Spector, I am going to kill you if you mess this up like DX 2

Er, the game has rope arrows and probably burricks (though they said they wanted more people less monster action), just not in the demo. And I'm sure they have swimming. Lack of spiders I take as a welcome subtraction.

No, it doesn't have rope arrows. Instead they have climbing gloves or something.

It seems pretty fun. I was worried the PC version would be a crappy Xbox port, which is why I waited for a demo. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Well from the FAQ linked on, i think it was one of those dl links, they were rather solid that there would be no Burricks Spiders Rope-Arrows or Swimming. no swimming[!!]??

But yeah.

*coughs and points at question about anyone knowing requirements for it*

Everytime I try to run it, it gives me two errors. One saying the file is corrupted and the other saying it's an invalid format. I've tried downloading from two different servers and installed 3 times.

anyone else getting that error?

The requirements are here, for those wondering.

I have a severely outdated Geforce 4 MX myself, so I'll have to wait like a week before I can finally check it out.

Rope arrows are useful for bloody *.*
Like leaping from one ledge to a rope arrow to another for instance. Or if you get it just right you can leap onto the rope and it'll violently hurl your body at speeds approaching plaid halfway across the room into a wall [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] But that's technically a bug that shows up now and then. Or to climb up and drop things onto people's heads..

Bah. I hate Eidos. It's like they can't release a game without firing the company that made it (See: Anachronox, this Thief game), and they can't release outside America for several MONTHS. It isn't getting to Australia until June or July! DX:IW didn't come out until this March! I think if Blizzard can arrange world-wide releases then Eidos could too. That is, if they weren't a bunch of idiots.

(I liked the demo, and *would* be picking up the full game IF THEY HAD DAMN WELL DECIDED TO RELEASE IT!)

I knew I should have picked up Thief 2 when it was in all the bargain bins, too, but I kept telling myself it was pointless until I finished Thief Gold, and now I can't find it anywhere... bah... But I still haven't finished Thief Gold, so I guess it doesn't really matter...
2004-05-30, 9:27 AM #35
Although the lack of zombies and monsters is AWESOME, the game doesn't seem smooth and polished. It's out in North America BTW...

Oh yes it bloody well does too matter. Thief 2 > * (especially the bank vault level)

you need to go to Games warehouse Australia and order it post haste. They have online ordering via direct deposit. You order online, they get your stuff together and e-mail you to tell you to deposit the money. You can also pay by money order, credit card etc. Postage is a tad high (especially for one item), but the service is great and very quick.

Hmm, it's only 10 bucks, compared to the 20 I've seen it in stores for... Still, I see it every now and then in shops, it's just I haven't seen it in my main store (Chadstone Electronics Boutique, which sucks.) lately.

I need to find a better store...
