CoD2 or SWBF2?
2005-11-01, 8:56 AM #1
Should I buy Call of Duty 2 or Star Wars Battle Front 2? I'm trying to decide which one I should buy. Right now, I'm leaning towards Battlefront. I loved the original and it seems they added a lot of new stuff in this most recent one. Also, I don't think I'm quite done with CoD. I still have fun playing the CoD multiplayer and haven't sucked it dry yet.

That this question is even being posed saddens me.

CoD2, no question.

Can't tell you which is better because I've only played CoD2 but I probably wouldn't be able to tell you anyways because I think they are both great.(Actually now that I think about it, I did play the PS2 demo of SWBF2. And it was fun...)
No sig.

Don't go for the BF2 "this is the game we initially wanted to make" garbage. That's just evil cash cow capitalism (not saying that capitalism is wrong, though)!

Plus, CoD won around 80 GotY awards (see their website) and CoD2 has new graphics engine, up to date with the times.

It's obvious.

If SWBF2 has extremely cool 'Battle of Coruscant', that.

Otherwise Cod2.

Haha, wow. I don't think I've ever seen more obvious flamebaiting, and that's coming from me.

That's definitely my reasoning. I mean, how can you go wrong with the freaking sequel to CoD (one of the best games I've ever bought--one of the few non-blizzard games that I didn't regret purchasing). The only thing that's keeping me from getting it is the kachingaching (working on getting a job >:\)

Edit: I hate laptop keyboards.

It wasn't flamebaiting. It was just a good old-fashioned insult.

Call of Duty 2, nuff said. I wouldn't support a developper or publisher that screwed me out of my money the first time around, no matter how great their game can be.

BF2, just because that beta thingy on fileplanet was awesome.
nope.
2005-11-01, 12:21 PM #18
I thought that was the most pathetic beta, but I think thats mainly because the few levels on there were just aweful. But might be just me!

CoD1>Battlefront 1

battlefront 2 has playable jedi... unless they REALLY hold back the jedi class the balance is ****ed since only the BEST PLAYER gets to be a jedi

The jedi/heroes are given as a choice to every systematically. It goes through the list of players asking them if they want to change to the jedi.
nope.

I would pick a good game over a LucasArts product anyday.

SWBF2 will get popular anyway, with all the LucasArts/Star Wars fanboys.

That's what LEC depends on. At least, that is what they cash in on. They don't need to work too hard because they have a reliable customer base. Thus, the least work gives them the best profit margin.

i read a bunch of previews that said the best player gets to be jedi... but if they do it little league style maybe it's not so bad... i just hope they release a friggin PC demo

How about you play both games and see which one YOU like best, instead of posting what OTHERS thought.. There's obviously going to be different opinions.

I myself hated COD. But then again, I like the looks of COD2, however, Star Wars = Ownage for me, so if you asked me I'd say SWBF2.

I could play for the rest of my life and never suck CoD multiplayer dry.

But.

Go. Buy. CoD2.

Now.

Why are you still reading this?

I'd have to suggest SWD2, or CoBF2.

Sorry, haven't played CoD (much, doesn't work well on compy) and SW:BF was kind of buggy...I liked the SWBF2 demo alot though, but haven't done anything with CoD2 so...yay, useless post!
I had a blog. It sucked.

Battlefront 2 has been rocking my socks all day. Any game that lets you play as Yoda and slice up droids at the knees in the battlefield = win.

I'd highly recommend Call of Duty 2, if your computer can run it. Playing it at high settings can bring an otherwise decent computer to its knees (ask Brad).

I would probably recommend CoD 2 over Battlefront, simply because CoD has been proven to be a great game (and it's been so in my experience playing it the past few days) and Battlefront not so much. I'd try the demos though. Those will really be your true tests.

One thing I haven't liked so much in CoD2 is that the environments seem a bit smaller this time. It seems more urban. But I haven't gotten TOO far into the game yet, so we'll see.

But does CoD2 offer what the developers have been promising? Like non-linear gameplay, great AI, multiple ways of approaching the enemy and so on?

I decided on SWBF2. I'll post a review later on.

btw, if the best selling star wars game yet is "meh" what does that make Jedi Knight? :p

Yeah, I was playing BF2 with Darth J earlier today - was awesome seeing him be Yoda at one point and just rape the **** out of the other team. Good fun! If you didn't like the first one though, you won't like this one probably either

I see nothing but disaster in your fate.
2005-11-02, 5:43 AM #34
haven't played BF or BF2 and I am a big fan of COD but the COD2 demo just didn't impress me.
aside from my team mates running in front of enemy fire I saw no evidence of any kind of AI at all. The enemy just stayed behind their bunkers waiting to be shot or blown up.
The graphics are nice (if your PC can handle it) but the very detailed environments, while nice, are completely static. not even any doors (that I remember atleast).
That certainly took away from the realism.

but like they said, play them for yourself and don't depend on our opinions.

Of course the CoD2 demo was just one short level. You can base your opinion on the whole game of a pre-release demo if you want but I doubt its a very educated opinion. :P

And there was one door. One of your men tries to kick it down and instead gets cribbled with bullets! :P
