I enjoyed the first Battlefront. I wasn't "omfg this is awesome!" But I enjoyed it. Then Battlefront 2 came out. Well, it was either CoD2 or Battlefront 2. I had a lot of CoD lately, so I thought I'd take a break from it. I'm glad I did. Battlefront 2 is ****ing awesome(at least as much as I've seen). The game has all the familiar elements of BF1, but has a hell of a lot more now. Take the single player campaign. In BF1 the single player was almost non-existant. "Blah blah blah" *load random map and win* "blah blah blah" *next map*. The single player is a lot different this time around.
In single player, you follow the elite 501st Republic troopers through missions and there are some great narratives in between missions. And unlike in BF1, they just don't throw a map at you and call it a mission. They actually take a map and rework it to make it more like a traditional FPS, except with lots and lots of people. So far I'm at the mission where you are assaulting the Jedi Temple. Damn hard though(jedi keep killing the bookcases!)
Galactic Conquest mode. This is the part where in BF1 you'd pick a side and go around taking a planet and then use that planet's bonus. In BF2, however, they changed it and those that played Rebellion might be a little familiar with it. They've made it so you have to create fleets to attack other fleets and planets, you produce your own bonuses(haven't figured out how to use them yet though), and you buy new units to use(for instance, if you are CIS you start out with the Super Battle Droid for ground battles and Droid Pilots for space battles and that's it). Then you actually have to use a little strategy on how you manuever your fleets and decide which planets to attack. It's far more indepth that the Conquest mode of BF1 ever was.
Space Battles. These are very fun. In space battles, you have a choice of two units: droid pilots and droid marines. These points to three ways you can win a Space Battle. The first and most obvious is to jump in a fighter and just kill as many enemy fighters as you can while dodging streams of enemy fighter fire and capital ship fire. This is a victory by attrition. The second is jumping in a bomber and attacking the capital ships themselves. There are three ships: two frigates and a main ship. The two frigates can be destroyed by hitting them anywhere, though destroying them is not necessary to win the engagement(though I think it is necessary to destroy the entire fleet in Conquest mode). The main ship has several points on it you need to bomb to take it out, like the life support, sensors, comm relay, bridge, and engines. I think you need to take out all but one to destroy it. Now, the third way to destroy the main ship is a boarding party. You can either fly into the opposing hangar bay alone in a fighter(I think you need to take down the shield before being able to assault it though) or you can get some people in a shuttle and have a little boarding party. When on the opposing ship, you then go around and destroy the vital systems while fighting the defenders.
Jedi. Playing Jedi is fun. Way too much fun. Jedi are very powerful, though not invincible. It's fun to Force Sprint into a group and just start shredding. However, this kind of defeats the whole "one soldier in an army" feel, but it's still fun. Could easily make online play crappy though. I hope if the jedi is used in multiplayer at all, the server has the condition of the Jedi going to the worst player on the team, just so the entire game doesn't become a Jedi vs Jedi game.
Multiplayer and Instant Action. Admittedly, I haven't played much multiplayer yet. Just the singleplayer has be occupied. But I have done some Instant Action and it is interesting. You get some new modes to play besides just conquest. You can do CTF, CTF2, Hunt, and Epic(I think I'm forgetting one). CTF is obvious and CTF2 is just CTF but with two flags on each side. Hunt has something to do with killing as many creatures as you can in the time limit. Epic...is, well epic. You take a map, a very large map like Hoth, and probably double or triple all the AI on it at once. It's pure Army vs Army and while you have control points, they can not change who controls it. Strangely, my computer didn't slow down at all during this mode.
Maps. Some old maps, some new maps, and some old maps that have been revamped. For instance, Hoth is still the same old Hoth, though just without one of the tunnels(it collapsed). You can fight on Mustafar(lava world in EP3) among others and Geonosis got completely redone. It's now mainly a large infantry map.
Sound, Graphics. All great. My only gripe here, and really in the entire game, is that the Mace Windu model looks like ****. He seems to not be as lean as Mace in the movie and he looks like Play-Doh. Otherwise, everything is good.
I know I probably forgot to mention a few things, but that's all I can remember right now.
If you loved BF1, you'll love this game. If you liked BF1, you'll probably love this game. If you were on the fence on BF1 then you will probably like this game. If you didn't like BF1, well, this game is a toss up for you. Maybe you just don't like the genre or something.
I give this game five pink bunnies.
