batman begins was 22 bucks and it's been out for like 2 weeks already.

Maybe they are just cheaper figuring they will sell a lot more copies of Ep. III.

$15, not bad. I haven't seen it sold at under $20 (w/o tax) anywhere.

Best buy's DVDs are hardly cheap, at least at my local store. In fact, they are slightly more than anywhere else. (for example, the 2-disc release of scarface anniversary edition was about $22 at best buy, but $19.00 anywhere else, and a lot less thasn that online) I either go to walmart or buy used off of amazon.

buying used is a very good deal-- the discs are usually in decent shape 9about on par with a rental that has been played a few times) and they usually cost about 25-50% of what they cost new. However, for some reason, some used DVDS are not much less than new discs, so it's on a movie-by-movie basis. You can find some great deal, though. (for example, Kill Bill 1 is currently $15.00 new off of amazon, but buying used only costs you about $6.00. even with shipping factored in, its still a good deal.)

Yes, but I'm saying that the movie is being sold OPENING DAY for 15 bucks...that's unual for ANY opening movie, especially like... the biggest star wars movie made?

Opening day/week sales are quite common.

If you look though, Batman Begins (The 2 DVD set) is sold out almost everywhere due to it going OOP (Out of Print). Search other forums and you'll see this is true. People did not know why stores saying "We're not getting anymore in"

I'm not positive if some stores didn't pull the copies they had, but I don't think so.

From the story that sounds most true, it sounds like there was a copyright issue or some use without approval for the comic that came with the 2 DVD set.

Not really, Toys 'R Us was selling Episode II for $9.99 for DVD on opening day when it was released (I could not believe my EYES when I saw that as the price in the weekly flyer). They were sold out, so I went to Best Buy and they price matched. Best Buy sold Gladiator for $15.99 I believe when it was first released - and that's a two disc set too.

I think they do it because it gets real competitive with the movies places think they are going to sell. Therefore they want to attract the customers in the first place in the hopes of selling it with lower profit but higher numbers. Plus, it gives the customers chance to buy other DVD's and items.

The fact it's $15.99 has nothing to do with the fact it's not going to sell well, its quite the opposite. After this initial launch, it'll most likely go up to normal price.

If you buy the 2-disk Ep III at Wal-Mart without the crap bonus DVD "The Story of Star Wars", I think it's $15.99 too.

Ahh, ok. Well I'm glad I got my copy for 15 bucks in stead of 25 bucks anyways.

All the shops round here have got it for £15 [rrp £22] and theres hardly any copies anywhere.

I actually liked episode 3.

I liked it also, but I don't go into movies expecting to be blown away like a lot of people do. Its rare that I dislike a movie really.

Round these parts the opening week is the time buy DVD's and CD's anywhere. Wal mart, Circuit city, Best Buy, they all put the items on sale. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked out with Episode III, expecting it to be the 20 bucks.

That is hella expensive.

Exchange rate for USD to GBP is currently $.56, so that $15 dvd we're buying here is costing them almost $30.

all DVD's (well.. most) start at 15.99 at target for the first couple days, then by the weekend they go to 19.99. yeah, it's just to get people to buy it sooner.

I got Batman Begins (2-Disc) and Episode III for $15/each.

BestBuy normally sells DVDs/CDs for $15/$10 the first week they're out.

All that aside...
Episode 3 sucks? News to me...

Anything on disc it more expensive here. £15 is a reasonable price.
