It was a nice haircut.

Anyway, that's not exactly the point of thread. When I was in SuperCuts, I noticed a sign on the wall that reads, if I remember correctly, "If we don't ask you for shampoo service, you get the haircut FREE!" It's an odd policy. But, during my whole visit there, my barber never once asked me if I wanted a shampoo service. She probably forgot or it slipped her mind. I didn't mention it and paid for the cut because that's the typeof guy I am.

Would you take advantage of that policy if this was your case? You can't argue a clear store policy pinned on the wall.

Yes. When a haircut costs like 13 dollars which I could spend on food/booze, especially so. It doesn't make you a bad guy for not taking them up on their offer, it makes you a wuss.

I voted no, not so much because it's "mean"; more along the lines of I'd feel really embarrassed asking for a free one after this person who probably earns close to minimum wage had just cut my hair. :gbk:

I've always held that people who do work, should get paid for it.

I would have paid for it, then pointed it out.

So far, we've got 2 people who wouldn't pay, 4 people who would anyway, and 4 people who have clearly been at the weed and think they're GBK?!

I've always hated policies like that. Most of the jobs that have policies like that suck anyway, so I would feel bad getting the person in trouble, especially if they're overall a good worker but just forgot one stupid thing.

That happened to me one time. I mentioned it after I had paid. They told me to tell them the next time I came in about it. Of course, since my brother has cut my hair since then, I haven't had to pay for a haircut anyway, so it hasn't mattered.

Depends entirly on the haircut i receved. If it was a good cut, and the barber/stylist/whatever was profesional and friendly, i would point it out but still pay.

Seing as I only get my hair cut once every five years or so, its not much of an issue... plus, when I do get my hair cut, its FREE.

We rarely have such policies in Finland (or do we?). I would have paid anyway.

Although the barber's aesthetic qualities may have affected the amount.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I voted yes, but in reality I think I would judge the case individually just like West Wind wrote. During my life, I have seen in a few different kind of businesses (although no barbers) having offers somewhat similar to this, and I have always hoped they would forget to mention the detail, but that has never happened. So, in that sense my vote was also theoretical. But generally speaking people shouldn't make promises if they aren't gladly ready to fulfill them.

My wonderful and loving mother buzz cuts my hair about once a month. Sometimes I even buzz my own hair, now thats skill! :D

Close to minimum wage? Whoa.

Barbers here tend to own their own shops and charge at least £5 for a cut.

Depends how the shop works, if you pay each barber individually, then I wouldn't mention it. If you pay the store because its a chain so that the barber would be paid anyways, I might consider calling them on it.

Super cuts is a chain. Their employees are paid hourly + tips.
But yeah, if I was paying the actual person who cut my hair I probably wouldn't do it.

If I did take the free cut, possibly getting my hair-cutter reprimanded, I could safely say I wouldn't mine a slightly larger tip since I'd have the money.
