Gameplay is awesome, can't comment on the graphics as I have to run it at 640x480 with everything at low.

EDIT: Holy crap that's a lot of typographical errors. Guess I can't type for crap at 12:30AM.

People here don't like star wars, so this thread won't last more than a day or two.

I personally love the game! One of the best I've played in some time.

Jeez Darth J, no need to put the boy's hopes up. This may not be a website dedicated to star wars games or anything, but at least you could be more supportive.
;)

I was going to try it but all the reveiws I read say it's "just ok" which isn't enough in my book. I'm waiting on POP:TTT, or POP:Revolutions for psp.

I bought it for the PSP the day it came out. It's great for gaming on the go. If you're bored, and have some time to kill, just have a few rounds of Instant Action.

The PSP version doesn't have online play, only Ad-Hoc, so you better have some friends with PSPs (I don't) if you want multiplayer. It also does not have the story mode found on the consoles, but instead 3 Challenge modes, made with gaming-on-the-go in mind.

There are 3 levels from the consoles not included in the PSP version due to their size. They are Jabba's Palace, Kamino, and the Jedi Temple. Also, the space battles aren't involving. You can board the enemy ship, but the landing bay is the only place you can go.

The graphics aren't as good as the console versions, but they look better than the screenshots imply. I really don't notice the lower quality. Stormtroopers still look like stormtroopers, and that's all I need.

The controls are confusing at first, but I had them down in a day. Now, I actually prefer the PSP controls to the console.

No matter which platform you play on, there is a very special game mode you can play: Go to Instant Action, choose Mos Eisley, and the game mode Assault. This mode is an all out brawl between all the heroes and all the villains. Have fun!

I love the game too. There's still some quelms I have with the game, but its still a blast to play and I'm glad I got it. Some people say it doesn't look good - but I can run it at 1600x1200 at max settings and it looks great.

Worth a buy IMO
2005-11-07, 8:18 AM #7
Is it actually good? I assumed it was unpolished crap like the last 20 SW games.
2005-11-07, 8:20 AM #8
My 1st opinion:

Never played it...

But just to be safe.

My 2nd opinion: It sucks

if lucasarts doesn't make a demo for this one... they will prove that they are an even bigger group of morons than they were when they didn't release a demo for the first one

Actually... they did release a demo, but it was for the PS2. I checked it out and it was somewhat difficult but it was a lot of fun. I'm actually thinking about buying it for the PC.
No sig.
2005-11-07, 8:49 AM #12
They do have a demo, it's on the EPIII DVD, at least according to the commercials.

There was an MP demo, never got around to downloading it. I'll be giving the full version a test run eventually, haven't gotten around to it yet

Didnt the first Battlefront come out only last year?

Game series where there's a new installment so soon after the last make me a bit wary- Sure, it may be a fun game, but I doubt its much to rave about, just like the original. Most people who play it will probably move on to another game pretty quickly.

I got it the other day. Won it. Anyway, the campaign is nice, a bit on the hard side. Space battles, you can actually go into the ship and sabotage vital components, like the life support and auto-defenses. I do better in the space battles personally.
obviously you've never been able to harness the power of cleavage...

I agree about Lucasarts releasing half-polished crap.

BUT

This game ROCKS!

BF2 is the bomb. Fantastic game! I have the PC version.
Is it actually good? I assumed it was unpolished crap like the last 20 SW games.
Yeah, that was my assumption, and I will stick with it until proven wrong. Of course, the KOTOR games are exceptions.

Besides the space combat and jedi features, what exactly is the difference between this game and the previous? The fact that they released similar games in a relatively short time span just reminds of JO/JA. Instead of putting a lot of effort into one game, release a skeleton the first time and then beef it up in the second installment, charging $50 for each game. Luca$art$ is successfully milking the cash cow again.

They say that they fixed some of the AI stuff from the first one, but I've heard that in some cases the AI can be worse (attacking allies, etc)

Battlefront 2 is far better than Battlefront 1.

It rules for PC, and fares well on Xbox.

Best elements:
-Scale. Wow, one person can make a difference, but it's not Doom.
-Expanded Classes. Heros rule, "command class" rules.
-Better/More maps. First ones are included, new updates to all.
-AI improvements
-Space battles are pretty good
-single player is so much better

Worst elements:
-Grenade splash damage seems too low

Seriously kicking game

Just note all BF1 maps are not included at this time (they speculate that some might be made available later through a patch *PC Version*)

"At your service" - muha

This is the PC version. Note that I have all graphical detail on 'low' or 'none' because I have a 64 MB Videocard that just meets the requirements. I played it on resolution 1024x768, but I resized the screenies to 800x600 for here.

Feluccia! I managed to unlock Aayla Secura here. :D (Capture the Flag mode - by the way)

Coruscant Space Battle! Screenie doesn't do it justice. It's fantastic. Fighters everywhere, evading rockets just like in the movie, you need to see this in action....

Aayla in action. Two sabers! Aayla has (a powerful) saberthrow, speed and Force Pull. Mace has a powerful Force Push.

A clone trooper, more Feluccia goodness. :D

You can do first person for guns, right? Can you make the aiming recepticals smaller. They seem to be set a console size.

Interesting.

The land map pics seem to show a very foggy and crazy place.

Does it have a CTF mode of some sort?
2005-11-09, 1:04 PM #33
It has two CTF modes. Some land maps have both, others have one or the other. One mode is 2 flag CTF, where each team has its own flag, and the other mode is 1 flag CTF, where both teams try to capture a flag from the center of the map.
