Well, it's been a while since we had one of these, and given that I am exceptionally bored as I write this...

Post the best/your favourite freeware per catagory!

Graphics (Vector) - MS Acrylic (you need a valid copy of Windows to get this)

Well, you're *supposed* to register it; but the unregistered version has the very same functionality.

3D modelling - Milkshape. (Blender? whats all this then?)

sound editors - Fruityloops. + cool edit

Graphics [raster] - Paint Shop Pro or some such.

Games - Vampire Bloodlines and Halo :)

uhh, last I knew it was.. Probably they have a free version and a "pro" version...


I usually use the audio editor bundled with Nero.. Actually works pretty well for what I need. *shrug*
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

I use Audacity rather than Goldwave. And Audacity really is free.

foobar2000 or Winamp for playing music. foobar2000 is waaay more powerful but difficult to setup.

Programming compilers - None other than GCC. There's a version out there for every processor capable of running it.
