I just woke up from a weird dream:

McDonald's had a new advertising campaign. It involved a woman staring into the camera and saying, "I frequently enjoy... Empathy."

Announcer: Empathy now available at McDonald's.

Woman, "I especially enjoy empathy when I empathize with someone who is feeling happy." She bites into.. something, it was like a light yellow rectangle.

This part is where I got angry at McDonald's and said something like, "I cannot accept any flawed paradigm!" I was in the parking lot of a record store in Kentucky.

Then the advertisement woman was there and her car was broken down. She asked if I could tie a rope from my car to hers and pull it along (I had a car for some reason, I dn't drive IRL). We found a jumprope in the back seat so I agreed but then my car wouldn't start either. She demanded that she gets to drive my car and that we should put sugar in the tank to help it go. I told her it was a bad idea, I mean look at her car...

Then I woke up. So.. post your dreams or try to decipher what mine is about. I think the woman is a repeat character from another strange dream, but I don't know who she represents in reality.

Do you read a lot of deep books, like philosophy, or listen to emo music? I would probably never think of feelings in terms like empathy (as opposed to simple happiness) ever, especially in a dream. And the woman. . . well, what did she look like? Maybe you associate women with advertisements, which actually isn't too radical of an association.

A couple of nights ago I dreamed of a design for a real-life forcefield. Basically a high-powered laser (say 50 megawatts) would be oscillated back and forth at close to 1000 Hz. It would then vaporize anything in the oscillating plane. I come up with weird crap in my dreams sometimes.

I just had one earlier that my friend's exgf joined a porn site. But not to look at the pics.

I think the reason for this, besides my own sick twisted mind, is that because the girl owes me $150. And she called me yesterday to tell me she finally got a job, after more than 6 months of trying (I once made a bet with her that I could find a job by 3 pm that afternoon, and it was 11:30 am, and I would just drive to places randomly. I won that bet).

Anyway, I think I had the dream because she owes me the $$ and the girl has virtually no useful skills. Heck she really isn't even good looking. It looks like someone took a baseball bat to her jaw. So naturally her turning to porn would be the only way she could raise the money she owes me.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I've got schematics for an X-wing (which has been proven to be airworthy in wind tunnels) that includes just about everything except shields and repulsors. Even got the internal missile tubes using Sidewinders. Wings seperate, astromech, etc, etc.

My dreams used to be pretty mild. *Really* mild. But within the last few months they have been getting really, really bizarre. Twisted, mind alteringly bizarre. The kind of dreams that you wake up after and think "what the frickin' hell was THAT?". Fortunatly I dont remember any of them for long.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

Last night, I dreamt I was having a pillow fight with various farm animals, then someone choked the chicken. That pillow fight was awesome though.

You use words like that in your dream? I never remember thinking and using such vocab in my dreams.

Agreed.

When I have to walk long distances, I will frequently imagine that I am actually flying a fighter jet or speeder bike to cover the distance.

(late reply/elaboration)

I've always had dreams where I remember specific dialogue or words, but they haven't always been as weird as this one was. Some of the dialogue uses simpler words but still stays with me forever... like back in 2000 I had a dream where one of the lines (said to me by a shadow of myself) was, "Can't you see it's true? You can fly. There are two moons and a wolf."

When it's particularly bizarre I write it down, which of course helps me remember it for years like that. Lately I've been spending a lot of my spare time on philosophy forums and reading books with uncommon language (Ulysses in particular) so that's probably affecting the vocabulary in my dreams.

GBK, I would definitely write them down if they're intense. The written transcript is never completely accurate, and a lot of the emotion is lost just in the act of trying to organize it that way, but it might be cool to look back on later.

And the engineering that actually works sounds cool, when I create something awesome in my dreams it's always a piece of crap IRL.

And lucid dreaming is really fun ;)

Aw man, I wish I could do this. Lemme go look at it.

It seems to require some sort of natural talent at remembering your dreams, which I can't do. Plus, I doubt I have the patience to learn. :(

Read more, you can learn to remember your dreams through better sleep, diet, and writing them down. You probably remember parts of your dreams immediately upon waking, but foget very quickly that you even remembered. Just write any bits at all down and soon your dream memory will get better.

A dream journal.

Try it, it is more than worth it. You spend most of your life sleeping, why not take control?

And besides the obvious *ahem* "benifits" of being self-aware in dreams, you can do cool stuff like fly and materialize anything you want just by thinking it.

I occasionally have falling dreams. My falling dreams are the best. I'm falling, but I'm enjoying it all the way down. I can do flips and stuff. It's like flying! And then I hit the ground. Usually it either hurts a little, or not at all. I just kind of get up and shrug it off. And then I go do it again. I've had a dream that consisted of me jumping off of a cliff over and over again. I think there may have been an anthromorphic tiger too.

Strangely, I can only remember ever having dreamt one time They say we all dream many dreams ech night, but can't remember them. I only recall one dream (or even thinking "Hey, I had a dream") in my whole life, and it went like this:

I died. I don't know how, but I was dead. I didn't see myself die, but I knew I was dead. (this dream took place in the third person, like a movie) When I suddenly opened my eyes, I was in a long tunnel. At one end was a bright, white light, and at the other, darkness. A deep, thick darkness, like a black cloud. A heavenly, female voice says "Walk toward the light..." in a soft, mystical, angelic way. I look up toward the light, a long way off, consider for a moment, then say "Pffff yeah right, it's too far." I then look the other way toward the darkness, and decide that it also is too far. I then proceed to sit down on the floor and lean against the wall of the tunnel.

I then awoke, sitting on my bed (rather that laying) in my pajamas, legs crossed, under my blankets.

The dream I can remeber right now, was a while back when I was playing a demo of kill switch and then I ended up having a dream of a crossover of kill switch and JK. Very odd dream.

I had a dream about a week ago where I had a gun. It was like a fps (CS:S I think) I was with three others and we were spying on these aliens. If they spotted us we would be screwed. All of a sudden one of my teammates trips on something and the aliens see him and then us. He's gone, I think to myself, and I jump up (I was crouching) and start using my secondary fire (grenade launcher) at the aliens while the other guys run toward the hole that we could seal off like a submarine.

After a few more grenades into the swarm of aliens I sprint for the hole. I dive in head first, and my group is down there along with a few other people. I believe that this was like our resistance base or something. I lied down to go to sleep, but these two people were getting a little frisky on the bed next to me, so I picked up a bean bag and chucked it at the girl. It hit her in the face and knocked her right off the bed. They stopped.

Once I woke up (my next REM sleep?) I noticed in the one section of what seemed to be a control station of some sort that there was a small alien. (it reminds me of the ones in the first Unreal that are friendly) I tell the other people, but they don't believe me. I look for it where I saw it. It then pulled me, tripping me, into a vent.

We slid into the landing bay, and it was really dark. It was light enough to see the alien running, so I chased it. Once I caught up with it I hit it with a small flashlight. (it wasn't working because I had only one battery) The hit had no effect. He got on the phone and was asking his mothership how to fly one of our ships out of here. I found my dad's gun and killed the little bugger with a lot of shots to the head. It turns out that one of the women in our resistance had let him in because she was crazy.

This was all seriousy a dream of mine. I even left some details out. Like there were two safetys on the gun.

Damn, I just wrote a book.

I remember once over the summer I was writing code for an algorithm which contained a bug. I stopped working on it, went to sleep, and feel into a dream. At the very end of my dream, I remember visualizing the code and what each section did, while trying to solve the problem. Unfortunately, the solution I came up with didn't work.

Last night's dream was about today's discrete mathematics test. I kid you not. I was uber stressed about this.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.
