No case?

What the hell is up with this trend?

Seems like the last 5 or so games I've bought haven't come with a REAL case. Just those stupid paper ones.

Now, FEAR, which I bought just yesterday IS 5 discs, which is alot.. but that doesn't count as an excuse, because Farcry is 5 discs and IT CAME WITH A FREAKING CASE.

I would GLADLY fork over the extra $5 for the freaking case. I HATE THESE STUPID PAPER CASES.

Does anyone know where you can even BUY a 5 disc case?

You know what I hate? These stupid mini boxes that games come in now. I like the big old ones, not these little tiny pieces of rubbish.

I hate DVD cases, especially storebought.

Cause then they have like 15 layers of security stickers on every damn side of it, that are nigh-impossible to get off.

I love the really old game boxes where the top was the front, and it came off. :D

My star crusader box is like that, and is still up in my room.

THAT IS THE QUESTION FOOL!

Where can 5 cd cases be obtained?

Goodness.
2005-11-10, 3:10 PM #12
Wal-Mart sells them...
2005-11-10, 3:27 PM #13
The ones with 6 places for CDs, like the Far Cry case?

Pssh, if you pirate all your games, then you don't need CD cases.

DISCLAIMER: I don't do this. And neither should you.

I happen to like those cases...
Cause then they have like 15 layers of security stickers on every damn side of it, that are nigh-impossible to get off.
There's a trick to those... Though I doubt I could describe the technique over the internet.

no, becuase then most of the tape is left on. It involves prying up one corner and sliding your finger along the edge. That's the best description I can give.

BF2 and CoD 2 have nice DVD-esque cases.

Yeah I agree with that. The catch is that you need the FEAR disc in the drive to play the game, so every time I gotta go rumaging through 5 identical paper covers to find the elusive 5th disc. It's a pain.

City of Villains, now there's a game that got it right. Lovely beefy box and a very pretty highly-illustrated fold-out case for its 5 discs. Unfortunately, after the game is installed, there's no need to ever even look at the CDs again...

no... it means you have 2 halves of the sticker to remove... i've had some dvd cases where i tried to peel from a corner and actually cut the clear plastic with my fingernail

what annoys me than paper sleeves? CD-ROM

please retarded people who make these stupid decisions... people who can run these new games... THEY ALREADY HAVE A DVD DRIVE if not... DVD DRIVES CAN BE BOUGHT EASILY FOR $20

I don't bother removing the stickers.

Just run a razor knife down the crease.

I don't like jewel cases for anything other an burned cds. I like to be able to read what is on the spine of a cd, so I can grab it out of my hand made CD rack/shelf thingy.

It's not that easy to find DVD versions of most games yet.

Quake 4, HL2, and UT2k4 are probably the highest-profile DVD releases. It's really depressing - I had a DVD-ROM drive in 1998! The first DVD game I got came out in 2004!

I hate them, too. Back with the old boxes you often had much extra stuff in them, like a big manual, maps and other stuff.
Wasn't there a newspaper with DeusEx? They don't make cool stuff like that anymore.
But the top of the mountain was Microsoft, when they released a new Flightsimulator without a printed manual.

DVDs didn't have a killer-release, like Rebel Assault was for the CD-ROM.

First one for me was San Andreas.

It's hard as crap to find DVD releases even for games that have them, they seem to stock alot less.

uhm... CD-ROM was over 600x the capacity of a floppy... alot easier to come up with something new you couldn't do before...

DVD-ROM isn't meant as a big revolution but more of a convenient evolution allowing these increasingly larger (in disc space) games to be released on a single disc... which brings one of the strongest reasons for publishers to want to switch to dvd... one dvd costs less than a bunch of cds

The Battlefront II Case is the same for either DVD or CD version. In the CD version, there are multiple discs on one spindle. The DVD version has the same freaking huge spindle, and one disc. Not a bad idea, though, cause the case is so big, they just added a slip cover and some light plastic, and the game is wrapped!

Also, Battlefront II rocks.

That is all.
